Please welcome (Ms.) Madeleine Mazzio (MAH-tzee-oh) to GPMS. She is our new High School Science teacher, teaching sections of biology, earth science, and physical science. She was born and raised in Boise, enjoying the mountains and rivers for as long as she can remember. She received her B.S. from Utah State University in Wildlife Ecology and Management. She then moved to Portland, Oregon where she discovered her love for education and received her M.S. in STEM Education from Oregon State University. Moving back to her hometown with her husband and dogs is such an exciting new adventure for them after so many years away. In her free time, she enjoys knitting, mountaineering, reading, gardening, hiking, and developing new recipes. Ms. Mazzio looks forward to meeting all her new students (and their families!) and serving the Meridian community. Go Falcons!

Dr. Leybas is the founding Principal of Gem Prep Meridian South and his staff and scholars were excited to celebrate all that he does during National Principal Appreciation Week. He greets all scholars by name and smile in the mornings, shares silly jokes during morning announcements, and encourages scholars to be their best. Dr. Leybas leads the Falcons with a fiercely positive mindset and high expectations that have made GPMS what it is today. Thank you for all you continue to do to lead our scholars and staff!

This week has been National Assistant Principal week. We wanted to shout out and recognize the greatest Assistant Principal around, Mrs. Garroutte! Every day she brings enthusiasm and excitement to our campus. She exemplifies our EPIK values, especially excellence and kindness. The kindness that she teaches to all of our staff and scholars helps make GPMS the place to be. In addition, her knowledge of quality instruction in the classroom has helped accelerate the growth in our academic success on campus. Our elementary scores this year have continued to climb under the intentional and quality direction of Mrs. Garroutte.

Please join us in recognizing the most EPIK Assistant Principal around!

In honor of School Counselor's Week, we want to shout out our amazing Mrs. Wilkes! She has a consistent smiling face, is always willing to help and support all, and brings joy to all of GPMS. Thank you for flying with the Falcons!
