Trifecta Ecosystems, Inc.

Trifecta Ecosystems, Inc. Trifecta Ecosystems, Inc. is a sustainable agriculture brand that uses aquaponics systems to provide With a brand new 2,500 sq. ft.

The Trifecta Ecosystems journey began when founders Spencer Curry and Kieran Foran came to a clear realization about the food on their plates: in order to really know exactly what they were consuming, they would have to take control and grow their own food. After some extensive research and late night planning, these new farmers had discovered that aquaponics was the most durable, sustainable, and

efficient way to grow food in any environment. It didn’t take long before they were growing greens and small vegetables within the confines of a dorm room, and within a few years they expanded to a backyard aquaponics system that operated all year long. Today, Trifecta Ecosystems has grown into so much more than just a small farm with a big dream. indoor farm located in Meriden, CT, multiple systems for personal, educational, and city-wide use, and a FreshCSA program that is providing fresh greens and salad to local and surrounding communities, we’re working to change our world’s food economy, one sustainably fed city at a time. By empowering farmers in urban environments and educating others on the true potential of aquaponics, we’re planting the seed of change and showcasing how this ancient, yet extremely effective method will adapt the way we interact with food for good. It is a somber day for Trifecta’s family and friends as we mourn the passing of one our most beloved individuals.

Spencer Tenant Curry, founding partner of Trifecta Ecosystems, Inc. and well respected and loved member of the aquaponics farming community passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2022 at the age of 33.

Spencer was born in Pasadena, CA on January 30, 1989 and was raised in Glastonbury, CT since the age of three; a town he loved and cherished for its abundance of farms, nature trails and tight knit community.

In college, he and a few of his lifelong friends discovered a passion for aquaponics which became the focus and driving force of most of his adult life. After starting out as a hobby with a few old high school friends Spencer co-founded Fresh Farm Aquaponics which grew to become the business and impact he was most known for, evolving ultimately into Trifecta Ecosystems.

Spencer was a kind, caring, highly intelligent individual with an infectious laugh and amazing sense of humor. He had an insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge that made him an indispensable member of not only Trifecta, but the aquaponics community as a whole.

Spencer had a mix of insatiable curiosity mixed with incredible intelligence. As such Spencer saw potential where others saw dead ends. He strove to prove that business and farming could be done with compassion, could be done with consciousness, and benefit the local community. While still providing the best tasting, best looking food anyone had ever had.

Outside of Trifecta, Spencer valued his friendships and relationships above all else. Some of his oldest elementary middle and high-school friends were still among his closest friends and he was the immutable sounding board and source of comfort for so many family, friends and co-workers.

To say he will be missed is a colossal understatement. Today there is a deep void in all the lives he touched.

Our thoughts go out to his parents Beth and Ron, and his brother Sam. Words will never suffice to say how grateful we are to have been able to share some part of Spencer with you. Words cannot convey how grateful we are for the time we got to have with Spencer and how deeply deeply upset we are over this news. He will be forever remembered not only for his impact, but more importantly for the love, the laughs and care he blessed us with.

Rest easy Spencer! We’re going to miss you so much!

With Love, Your Trifecta Family

: Light is measured in PAR value, which stands for photosynthetically active radiation. It measures the total available light energy that the plants can use. Light is a primary factor in healthy plant growth and plays a major role in promoting vegetative and fruit production.

: Lux is a measure of illuminance in lumens. It's essentially the measure of intensity to the human eye of light that hits a surface. In our hydroponics beds this can give us insights into any areas that might need supplemental lighting, and in the case of controllable LED lighting, can allow is to tune the light into the specific lumen needs of the plant underneath.

: Why are we obsessed with temperature, you ask? Temperature impacts the growth and activity of aquatic life. Fish can not regulate their body temperature internally, as a result consistent temp is important. Temperature also regulates root growth in plants. In other words, different plant and fish variety require different temperatures. Make sure you are catering to both.
