Congratulations to Inter-Lakes Middle/High School Senior, Maria Nedeau, for being chosen as the May Laker of the Month. Maria is a very caring and responsible person with a heart of gold. Maria has dedicated herself to dance for the past 15 years, practicing 5–6 days a week and competing for the last 13 years. Maria works with the ILMHS Unified group, and most recently helped the Unified group create a dance for the recital at Lakes Region Dance. Maria has also been a big asset to her senior class, and is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Maria is the embodiment of a Laker and you would be hard pressed to find someone with more Laker spirit! Her commitment, work ethic, and determination are truly remarkable.

Maria will be attending Endicott College to study exercise science and athletic training.

Congratulations Maria! We are so proud of you! πŸ’™πŸ€

πŸ† BattleCry 2026 Recap – Lakerbots FRC 8046 πŸ†

The Lakerbots’ BattleCry run came to an end today after a very close final playoff match. We fought hard right down to the last second but came up just short. While the outcome wasn’t what we were hoping for, this team has so much to be proud of.

Throughout the event, we competed with an entirely new drive team in nearly every matchβ€”many of them brand-new students this season. That speaks volumes about the leadership, mentorship, and culture that has been built within this team. To be able to put new students on the field and have them rise to the challenge is a huge accomplishment in itself.

We may not have advanced any further in the bracket, but we certainly did not end the day empty-handed.

πŸ… The Lakerbots were honored with the General Staff Award, recognizing teams that embody the FIRST Core Values of Inclusion and Impact.

As described by the event staff:

β€œThis team makes an impact on the world around them in every possible way. From building tools for students and athletes with special needs, to making the environment more accessible to all, to ensuring that nature stays preserved for future generations, they have managed to include all types of community members in their field of influence. Keeping their lakes and landfills a little bit cleaner, congratulations and keep up the good work to Team 8046.”

This award means the world to us because it recognizes something bigger than robots. It recognizes the way our students serve their community, lift others up, and work to make the world a little better than they found it.

What an incredible way to close out the season. We couldn’t be more proud of this team and everything they have accomplished.

Congratulations to Inter-Lakes Freshman, Trace Taylor, for being chosen as the March Laker of the Month!

Trace is an absolute joy to be around. Trace comes to school with a positive attitude, works hard and perseveres even when encountering a challenge. He is a kind soul who shows his kindness in ways that not many would notice, unless they have witnessed it. During one of his 7th grade classes, a student dropped materials and Trace was the only student to step up and help pick up the items in a quiet way. During a snowstorm, Trace cleaned off staff members' cars without being asked. These actions embody the old adage that "Integrity is what you do when no one else is watching".

Outside of school, Trace is an avid and accomplished motocross racer. Congratulations Trace! We are so proud of you!πŸ’™πŸ€
