Training the core takes a holistic approach. These three exercises provide different challenges to the core and all of them can provide benefits to the swing.

Without core strength and stability it becomes harder to rotate efficiently at high speeds.

Band Distractions for Golf

If you are looking for some exercises to help with tight joints and muscles. Then band distractions can help relieve some pain before or after a round!

Band Distraction Benefits:
- decompression of the joint(s)
- Improved mobility through release of tension in the joint
- Pain relief from certain types of impingement in the joints

raining for Golf can be very wide ranging in exercise selection.

Rotation and lateral flexion are important qualities to train as they are consistent components of the golf swing.

Training rotational movements improves:
- Obliques and the entire Core itself are strengthened under load to support the rotation of the swing
- Can lead to improvements in swing speed with more core stability and strength.

Training Lateral Flexion improves;
- Helps to reduce the risk of low back injury due to the constant strain on the spine from the swing.
- When paired with rotational work it helps golfers load properly with a core that can withstand the rotational demands of a swing.

Summer is in full swing here at SGF! Client results are up for the month of June! As we continue to test clients periodically we are looking to narrow down the amount of key performance indicators as we go.

Emphasis this past month has been on creating more hip mobility for clients to get a full effective transition of the lower body in their swing.

Along with that is RSI tracking which gives us insight to how reactive and explosive our clients are based off a counter movement jump. As that number goes up there tends to be a correlation with clubhead speed.

Training the Spine as a golfer requires the mobility to work within that area.

It is a big reason why we evaluate T-Spine rotation for every client that comes in.

If the mobility isn’t there then putting stress and load on the spine tends to increase injury risk. Use these exercises to help mobilize your spine and prep your body to swing efficiently time after time.

Here at SGF, we tend to test our clients on a 2-3 month basis looking at various training components related to golf. As we shift into more "in-season" training with clients looking to play more regularly there starts to be an emphasis on measures that are showing improvement towards the golf swing.

The clients above improved with their driver clubhead speed, countermovement jump, and hip internal/external rotation.

The countermovement jump is our way of measuring vertical force production as it is a direct correlation to improving clubhead speed.

With the hip internal/external rotation we are looking to see how well a client can improve their ability to utilize the hips in the golf swing and properly rotate.

Overall, a great few months for these clients! More testing results will be displayed in the coming months as we gear our clients up for peak golf season.
