Tomorrow with collaboration with the Health Center, we will be providing free tested for those who participant in Worlds AIDS Day.

Hello everyone!

Isaura Macias and I are running together as Co-Presidents of Distinguished Ladies. Together we are wanting to build on the memories built this year as far as bonding events and school wide involvement. Next academic school year we are planning to expand DL by collaborating with other ethnic clubs on campus to bring uplift and support the women in this club. Through collaboration with Social Justice Initiatives and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), we were able to host UC Merced's inaugural World AIDS Day Fair on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Thank you to all 20 of the student organizations and local community organizations - including Planned Parenthood, Healthy House, and the Merced NAACP- for tabling during the event to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. As a result of our collective efforts, we were able to educate hundreds of people, ignite and stimulate conversation, remove the stigma, instill hope and encourage everyone to always 'know his or her status'.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation was able to test close to 100 people on our campus, which is quite phenomenal. Special shout out to us (Distinguished Ladies), the Black Student Union, and the National Society of Black Engineers for recruiting the most members of their organizations to get tested during the fair!
