Before the Merced College campus looked the way we know it today, it was a work in progress — one building, one classroom and one gathering space at a time.

Merced College first opened in 1962 at the Merced County Fairgrounds. A few years later, the M Street campus began taking shape, creating a new home for generations of students to learn, grow and make memories.

More than 60 years later, the campus may look different, but the purpose remains the same.

Convocation marks the start of a new academic year at Merced College!

It’s a time to come together, welcome back our faculty and staff, celebrate new members of the Blue Devil family, and reconnect around what matters most—our students.

This year’s Convocation theme, “Living Out Our CORE,” is a reminder that our core values aren’t just words—they’re reflected in how we show up, serve our students, and support one another every day.

We were also thrilled to welcome back Kathy Buckley as our keynote speaker, 10 years after her first visit to Merced College! An award-winning motivational speaker, actress, best-selling author, and five-time American Comedy Award nominee, Kathy brought her signature blend of humor, heart, and powerful storytelling to inspire us as we begin the year ahead.

Promise Housing is a new housing opportunity that allows eligible Merced College students to live on UC Merced’s campus while continuing their education at Merced College.

Students who opt in to the Athletics & Recreation program can enjoy access to the UC Merced Recreation Center, adding even more opportunities to stay active and connected.

Today, we were proud to honor Dr. Christie Bryant, a Merced College alumna whose dedication to her profession, generous support, and commitment to Merced College continue to strengthen the Blue Devil legacy.

Dr. Bryant was recognized during our inaugural Merced College Soccer Alumni Match, which brought former Blue Devils back to the field to take on our current players. We were especially proud to welcome alumni players dating all the way back to 1992!

Thank you, Dr. Bryant, for your continued support of Merced College and our students. Once a Blue Devil, always a Blue Devil!

Tomorrow's the day!

Join us for the first-ever Merced College Men's Soccer Alumni Game as Blue Devil alumni return to the pitch for a day of soccer, community, and Blue Devil pride.

Hosted in partnership with the Merced College Alumni Association, the event will feature live music, food vendors, giveaways, fun competitions, and a special recognition honoring Dr. Christie Bryant for her contributions to Merced College Athletics.

Alumni Match Kickoff: 12:00 p.m.
