Last week, Tenaya Middle School AVID students took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to SkyLife Merced!

Students got an inside look at careers in the medical field, including what it takes to become a flight nurse or flight medic, or even a pilot. Experiences like this help students explore their interests, connect classroom learning to real-world careers, and begin thinking about the pathways that can lead them there.

This is CTE in action, introducing students to career opportunities and helping them discover where their education can take them!

Happy National Custodian Day to ALL of our outstanding MCSD custodians!

Beyond keeping our classrooms and campuses clean, safe, and ready for learning, you’re also a listening ear, a friend to students, an important part of PBIS, and some of our favorite people on campus!

Tonight, we’re celebrating three incredible MCSD employees being recognized at the 2026 MCOE Excellence in Education Awards!

Jeremy Spangler, Information Systems Specialist, helps keep our District connected through secure, user-friendly technology and platforms like ParentSquare and Peachjar. He also brings learning to life for students through hands-on STEM experiences and events.

Savannah Ramirez, Special Education teacherat Reyes Elementary, is dedicated to helping students with moderate to severe special needs thrive through individualized instruction, collaboration, and her unwavering belief in every student’s potential.

Jose Munoz, principal at Gracey Elementary, leads with compassion and a commitment to helping students feel seen, included, and supported. Through his leadership and involvement in the Gracey community, he continually encourages students to recognize their strengths and reach for new opportunities.

We’re incredibly proud of Jeremy, Savannah, and Jose for the meaningful impact they make on our students and school community every day. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Coming up on 29 years of dedicated service to MCSD, Tong Vang has made a lasting impact through her commitment to her students, her team, and her school community. Mrs. Vang is an exceptional teacher whose dedication and passion for her work are evident in everything she does.

Tong consistently goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues. She brings an incredible level of dedication to her work and takes great pride in ensuring that her students and team have the support they need to be successful. As a team leader, she takes responsibility for schedules, planning, meetings, and the many details that go into creating a successful Kindergarten program.

Tong is knowledgeable, dependable, and always willing to share her expertise. She is someone her colleagues can turn to for guidance and support, and she is quick to offer thoughtful solutions and assistance whenever needed. Her honesty, sound judgment, flexibility, and respect for others make her a valued and trusted member of her team.

Above all, Tong is deeply committed to doing what is best for her students. Her dedication, professionalism, and willingness to support those around her have made a lasting difference throughout her 29 years of service. With 4 years of dedicated service to MCSD, Marcela Duran has made a meaningful impact on the students, staff, and families of Burbank Elementary. As a Health Assistant, Marcela consistently goes above and beyond to support those around her and help ensure that her school community feels cared for and supported.

Marcela is a dependable and hardworking team member who is always willing to step in wherever she is needed. No matter how busy the day may be, she approaches each situation with a positive attitude, a genuine smile, and a willingness to help. Her kindness, patience, and compassion help students feel safe, cared for, and valued.

Marcela also brings a sense of calm and positivity to the workplace. She is someone her coworkers can count on, and her willingness to lend a helping hand makes a difference each day. Her dedication to students, support of her colleagues, and commitment to her school community truly exemplify what it means to go above and beyond.

We are incredibly grateful for Marcela’s 4 years of service, her caring spirit, and the positive difference she continues to make at Burbank Elementary and throughout the MCSD community.

We have a new school topping the leaderboard this week, congratulations, Reyes Elementary!

Stay tuned, on Friday we will announce the top Elementary and Middle School for the entire month of September, and the most improved attendance from last September!
