In observance of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, please join the University of California, Merced for a discussion with Seth Hancock, director/producer of the film, "Leftovers" on Friday, November 19th at 3 pm PST.
About the Film: "The documentary Leftovers is about a journey across the country to understand why senior citizens are the fastest growing group of people going hungry in America. This journey will change your thinking about aging."
From the Director/Producer: "When I was asked to make it, I initially turned down the opportunity because I didn’t think it was sexy at all. But, those very reasons are why I decided to make the film and the journey was, and still is, eye-opening and life changing. You don’t think something like this can happen to you but it’s a distinct possibility and as the socioeconomic chasm between the 'haves and the have nots' widens this is more and more a real possibility for the future. Many seniors are experiencing that now."
The film can be viewed at https://bit.ly/leftoversfilm and on Amazon.
The event is free and open to the public.

About the Film: "Worlds apart, a five-star chef, a twelve year-old girl, and a retired schoolteacher discover how their individual efforts to feed the poor ignite a movement in the fight against hunger.
This documentary tells the tale of these remarkable individuals and the unexpected challenges they face. Despite being constantly reminded that hunger is far too big for one person to solve, they persevere and see their impact ripple further than their individual actions."
