Hello McSwain Community,

This past weekend, our community came together for the annual McSwain Foundation Dinner to celebrate our school and raise over $80,000 to support our students! As your Superintendent, I want to thank the parents, sponsors, bidders, and community members who helped make the evening a success. Your generosity supports schoolwide initiatives, enrichment opportunities, and meaningful learning experiences for our students.

A special thank-you to Mr. Lance for serving as our master of ceremonies. I also want to thank the members of the McSwain Foundation for helping organize and put on this wonderful event. Their time, hard work, and commitment to our school made this annual celebration possible.

I also want to recognize our teachers, classified staff, and administration, many of whom attended the dinner. Their dedication and advocacy help identify and advance projects that benefit our students and classrooms.

Mrs. Rocha and Mrs. Nichols joined us on stage to present this year’s Fund a Need project: Smart Boards. Of the evening’s total, over $20,000 was raised specifically for this project! Thank you both for advocating for these tools and showcasing how they can make learning more interactive, visual, and engaging. Smart Boards help teachers bring lessons to life through images, sound, and hands-on activities that make concepts more concrete for students.

We appreciate everyone who contributed to this special evening and look forward to more opportunities to bring our McSwain community together.

***Independent Study: Independent Study is available in 5-, 10-, or 15-day increments, with 15 school days being the maximum. For planned absences that fall between these increments, the lower increment may be used and the remaining days will be recorded as regular absences. Families may choose to extend the planned absence to the next increment, but students may not attend school in person during any days included in the Independent Study period. Requests must be submitted at least two full calendar weeks in advance.

Student Expectations for Independent Study

Students will be provided grade-level-aligned coursework for the approved Independent Study period.
Students are expected to meet all academic expectations and requirements.

Students must complete all assigned coursework to receive attendance credit for the days covered by Independent Study.
All completed coursework must be submitted the day the student returns to school.

Celebrating the end of another great soccer season at McSwain!

A special shoutout to our 8th-grade boys as they wrap up their final soccer season as Mustangs. We are proud of the effort, teamwork, and Mustang pride you showed throughout the season!

Thank you to all of our parents, families, and community members for supporting our students, and a huge thank you to Coach Huerta for his time, dedication, and commitment to our athletes.
