Thanks all who shared their time and ideas during the two discussions “Parents Listening to Merced Teachers for Education During COVID-19.” EXCELLENT input and a spirit of generosity and hope. A great success/win for youth and education in Merced at tonight’s City Council meeting. With Mayor Murphy’s leadership, Council will ADD money for parks and recreation in the City of Merced with Measure Y (and stick to the original promise). This is urgently-needed money for community-based recreation with is a must-have for great education in Merced. Took courage and creativity, but local leaders did it. Details remain on how $$ will be spent. One step forward.

“You’ve got to come up with a better way.” Curtis Hayes (age 31) stood up against an adult protestor to help a young protester learn to do better. In communities with great education, caring adults prepare youth as future leaders. How are you helping youth to learn something better during our nation’s fight against racial inequity?
