Harper is our final eighth grader in Frozen JR this year. Harper’s first play, Beauty and the Beast Jr. found her in the roles of Madame D’Arque and an Enchanted Fork. She is a very talented actress and in her next play, Moana Jr. she was Tamatoa and showed such fortitude as she fought off being sick during one performance and her mic shutting off on her solo during another performance. Even though her mic was not working, she powered her way through the song and could still be heard. For Aladdin Jr., Harper was Razoul, a part of the Genie ensemble, and also part of Prince Ali’s entourage. Harper is in the dance ensemble this year for Frozen Jr. Harper enjoys the performing arts and is always ready to perform and turn out a good show.
Tickets are still available for the Frozen JR. show tonight, March 6th at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 7th at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Visit https://tickets.mercedtheatre.org/eventperformances.asp... or call 209-381-0500.

Our next eighth grader is Bailey. Bailey’s debut for WPA was as an Enchanted Feather Duster and Magic ensemble which helped to reveal the Beast’s transformation in Beauty and the Beast Jr. Bailey has been very dedicated each year and does her very best. In Moana Jr. she was a beautiful ocean ensemble dancer, and in Aladdin Jr., she was in the Genie ensemble and part of Prince Ali’s entourage. This year in Frozen Jr., one can see Bailey’s progression as a dancer in the ensemble. She has lovely elongated arm movements and performs with a beautiful smile on her face which shows how much she enjoys her craft.

Our next eighth grade spotlight is Haydin. Haydin comes from a legacy of Weaver drama alums. She is the fifth of six Gastelums to perform for WPA. Her siblings before her were very entertaining, and she does not disappoint in continuing the legacy. Haydin has an amazing voice and sings beautifully. Her first roles were in Beauty and the Beast Jr. as the Sausage Curl Girl, a narrator, and part of the Magic ensemble that helped to reveal the Beast's transformation. She was an amazing Chief Ancestor in Moana Jr. She played a Guard with great enthusiasm in chasing after Aladdin in Aladdin Jr. and also was part of the Agrabahn Ensemble. This year she is playing a Townsperson in the Frozen Jr. ensemble. Haydin’s dedication and loyalty to the Weaver Performing Arts program has continued to validate the Gastelum legacy and her participation in each play she has been in continues to help our program turn out phenomenal performances.

Juan is our next eighth grader we are going to feature. Juan has always been an amazing student from kindergarten to now in the 8th grade. He is such a kind and respectful student and actor. When first approached to audition for his first play, he rejected the idea, but after some coaxing, he auditioned and earned a principal role as Belle’s father Maurice in Beauty and the Beast Jr. Juan has always given his best in everything he attempts which is why he has done so well in all of the plays he has been in at Weaver. He works hard to learn and know all of his lines and he can be counted on for delivering a great character role. He took the role as Moana’s father in Moana Jr. and really improved his singing for that play after taking instruction and coaching from a voice coach, Joel Shade. He is presently starring as King Agnarr in Frozen Jr. and fits perfectly as the loving father of Elsa and Anna and reigning king of Arendelle.
Tickets are still available for the Frozen JR. show tomorrow, March 6th at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 7th at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Visit https://tickets.mercedtheatre.org/eventperformances.asp... or call 209-381-0500.
