The Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program will prepare students with the skills necessary to succeed as an entry-level athletic trainer. Athletic training is the paramedical specialization associated with the prevention, treatment, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses to athletes and the physically active under the direct

supervision of a physician. The athletic trainer serves as a liaison between the physician, other health care specialists, coaching staff, parents, and administrators. Athletic trainers must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, psychology, nutrition, hygiene, therapeutic modalities, taping, conditioning, causes and prevention of injury, evaluation and rehabilitation techniques. The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) is primarily responsible for the education of athletic training students. In addition, the CUW ATEP provides health care to all student athletes participating in Concordia University Wisconsin intercollegiate athletic programs, the general student population, faculty, and staff.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved athletic director, Rob Barnhill. Dr. Barnhill was an exceptional leader who led our athletic department with unwavering compassion and commitment. His steadfast support for our athletic training staff and student-athlete health was unmatched. We join the Concordia University community in sending love and prayers to his family and all those he impacted throughout his impressive tenure.

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of our fearless leader, Dr. Rob Barnhill. Rob helped build CUW Athletics into what it is today. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his student-athletes, staff, friends and family. We will continue to keep his wife Stephanie, sons Ty and Caden and all of those who loved him in our prayers.
