A short first week, but a meaningful start to the 2026-27 school year.

Today, we gathered for our first All-School Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church where Fr. Ian Kelly challenged our students to consider how they can “restore all things in Christ” through the ordinary moments of each day.

When we put on our uniform. When we sit in class and take notes. When we compete, perform, create and learn.

“How am I putting Christ into my academics, my arts, my athletics?”

With Cougar Football opening its season tonight, Fr. Ian offered a perfect example: “I know they’ll pray before the game. They’re putting Christ forward.”

And with that, it was only fitting to close out our first week with a pep rally showing off our Cougar spirit.

Here’s to an extraordinary year ahead.

The Class of 2030 officially took over campus today for Freshman Orientation!

From a morning welcome by our Senior Leaders and Principal Tom McKrill (’07) to meeting teachers, following class schedules, learning how to get involved and serve, meeting members of our Guidance team, sharing lunch together, and ending with their first Cougar pep rally — it was a full day of learning what life at Lake Catholic is all about.

Tomorrow, they’ll be joined by the rest of the student body as we officially begin the 2026-27 school year.

Today, though, campus belonged to our newest Cougars.

Yesterday, we asked our Lake Catholic Community to show up for the next generation, and you answered our call.

By the end of our Third Annual Athletic Giving Day, you had contributed more than $75,000 in support of Lake Catholic Athletics—and gifts are still being counted.

But yesterday was about more than a number.

We celebrated our champions. We honored Hall of Famers and coaches. We remembered the numbers we wore and the years we graduated. And, most importantly, we came together to support the student-athletes creating their own Lake Catholic memories today.

All day long, the Lake Catholic Community has shown up for our student-athletes — supporting teams, honoring coaches, celebrating our Hall of Famers, and investing in the future of Lake Catholic Athletics.

No matter when you walked the halls of Lake Catholic, you're still part of the Cougar family.

Tonight, we're challenging alumni to Give Your Class Year in support of today's student-athletes.

In 1991, the Lake Catholic Cougars captured the school's first football state championship. One year later, they did it again - finishing an undefeated season as back-to-back State Champions.

Those championships belong to the players and coaches who earned them. But their story is also a reminder of something at the heart of Athletic Giving Day - no one accomplishes something extraordinary alone.

It takes teammates, coaches, families, fans, and a community willing to support them.

As we share the final Hall of Fame induction video of the day, we're celebrating the 1991 and 1992 State Championship Football Teams ... and asking our Lake Catholic Community to come together once again for the student-athletes competing today.

There are still five hours left to make an impact.

Before Richard Sanders ('11) became one of Lake Catholic's newest Athletic Hall of Famers, he was a Cougar student-athlete with goals to chase, challenges to overcome, teammates beside him, and coaches pushing him to become better.

Today, there are hundreds of Cougars writing stories of their own.

The lessons learned through athletics can reach far beyond the field.

For Eric Kettani ('05), his journey as a Cougar helped lay a foundation that would take him to the United States Naval Academy, service as a Naval officer, and ultimately the NFL.

His story is one of talent and achievement - but also discipline, leadership, commitment, and service.
