School is almost out for the summer, and over 200,000 Wisconsin children are at risk of “summer hunger,” where kids who normally get breakfast and lunch at school don’t have enough to eat at home. That’s why the Department of Public Instruction, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program, is helping serve over 3 million meals this summer through 900 distribution sites across our state – summer hunger is awful for the children experiencing it, and impacts their ability to learn year-round.

💐 This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the many ways care, strength, and leadership show up in our lives and in our communities.
At the League of Women Voters, we know that the work of building a more informed, engaged, and equitable democracy is often powered by people who nurture, advocate, organize, and persist - at home and far beyond it.
Today, we honor mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and all those who step into those roles with heart and determination. 💙
✨ Let’s share the appreciation! ✨
Drop a comment to recognize someone who has cared for you, guided you, or inspired you to use your voice. Tag them, thank them, celebrate them.
Because the impact of care and leadership ripples farther than we can see.
Mother's Day | League of Women Voters
My mother helped foster my love for our democracy, and now it’s my turn. It’s up to me (and Oliver’s dad) to teach him about our government, our democracy and how he can ultimately play a role in the future of our country.

🌎 This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the power of people coming together to protect our planet and build a cleaner, healthier future for all.
The League of Women Voters is committed to advancing clean energy solutions that protect public health, strengthen our economy, and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. From advocating for renewable energy to supporting local climate action, we believe real change happens when communities get involved.
But this work doesn’t happen in a vacuum, it happens because of passionate people like YOU. Because protecting our planet is a shared mission. 🌱
Clean Energy | League of Women Voters
The climate crisis continues to devastatingly and inequitably impact the health and well-being of people and our planet.

Our volunteers show up to educate, advocate, organize, and empower—often behind the scenes, always making an impact. Whether it’s hosting events, registering voters, leading discussions, or supporting our mission in big and small ways, this work simply wouldn’t happen without you.
✨ Let’s spread some appreciation! ✨

April 16th is DC Emancipation Day.
The DC Compensated Emancipation Act of 1862 ended slavery in Washington, DC, freed 3,100 individuals, reimbursed those who had legally owned them and offered the newly freed women and men money to emigrate. It is this legislation, and the courage and struggle of those who fought to make it a reality, that we commemorate every April 16, DC Emancipation Day.
