This week our Scholar Simbas are discussing the incredible courage shown by Rosa Parks through this Little People, Big Dreams book all about her! Through this book discussion, they will learn about diversity, inclusion, and history while working on their language and cultural understanding skills.

Get ready to blast off! Our Curious Twigas are building their own rocket ships from Legos. This STEM activity will work their fine motor skills and creativity while they learn about space and have fun doing it!

Children prepare for kindergarten and engage in exploration and discovery in our Scholar Simba Pre-Kindergarten Level Program. Our enriching and engaging curriculum allows children to learn through purposeful, planned learning and from interactions with other children. These experiences improve children’s confidence, promote perseverance, and strengthen children’s executive function skills, which help them accomplish their goals towards kindergarten preparedness!

Let's balance! This week our Tembo Tots are using their fine and gross motor skills to build their posture and bilateral coordination. By balancing a bean bag on their heads while moving around they will gain specific body awareness skills. Their problem solving skills will also be stimulated as they gradually learn how to move their bodies without the bean bag falling. What's better than skill building while having fun?!

If your child doesn't speak English, no need to fear! Young children are still acquiring language skills at this tender age. Our teachers are well trained to handle children who do not have English speaking capacity. We highly encourage parents to guide the teachers with some pointers (language cues used at home) that will help to ease the child at school. We encourage parents to read English picture books at home during bedtime as that will help the child to enjoy the story time at school and enhance vocabulary.

Tembo Tots are continuing to learn how to sign the alphabet by learning letters P, Q, and R this month. Learning ASL shows them that communication can happen in more than just one way, but also, their brains are becoming more flexible and adaptable--AMAZING! Ask your child what they can spell with the letters they've learned so far and let us know in the comments!

This week, our Curious Twigas will have fun discovering how different cultures around the globe celebrate the holiday season in a book discussion of Where Would Santa Go?

Giddy Up, Horsey! Tembo Tots will be using streamers as horse tails so they can gallop around the room and pretend to be horses! Whether they decide to pretend to sleep in stables, drink from a watering hole, or eat grass and carrots, they'll be using dramatic, freestyle play to explore the world in a new way.

This is the first line of a book which will surely excite our Scholar Simbas for their planned STREAM activities! One such activity has them creating a model of a rain cloud with shaving cream to learn how raindrops emerge. Can you spell SCIENCE?!

Our new Afternoon Enrichment Program ignites imagination and motivates children through fun storybook characters! Each day of the week focuses on a different character to help them learn both necessary life skills and different ways of thinking! One character will teach self care skills, one will have them explore STEM, another will teach them about the natural world, yet another how to express themselves creatively, and they will even dabble in drama and music. This week, our Curious Twigas are reading and discussing "The Thankful Book!" This lesson exposes students to the research illustrating the benefits of gratitude and suggests activities to help students develop a habit of expressing gratitude. FAQ: Will my child receive individual attention in class?

Our classes for preschoolers are a combination of small and large groups. However, each child will be given individual attention throughout the day. Our caring teachers make sure that the children in their care feel like the center is a home away from home!

Curious Twigas are taking on a challenge this week: yoga breathing! Through yoga pretzel cards and poses, they will learn different breathing poses to breathe like a bear, a bunny, a bee, and a snake, building their motor skills and having fun in the process!

This week, our Tembo Tots are learning all about animal tracks. To do so, they'll use the feet, hooves, and paws of model animals to "stomp" on a piece of paper, leaving a paint print of that animal's tracks! They will be encouraged to tell stories about the tracks, observe patterns, and count two by two. This builds a variety of developmental areas, including their cognitive, language, and fine motor skills, while also helping them learn to analyze, work together, and communicate.
