How is it already the end of the school year? ☀️
As we wrap up an incredible spring trimester, we're celebrating the creativity, innovation, risk, and initiative that students brought to every project this year - and this most recent Portfolio Day was the perfect example of that. Thank you to our students, educators, and families for making this a school year to remember!

Were you at the BLC Research Showcase? 👀
We were completely awed by the presentations from our Brainwave Learning Center team, Radhika, Ailey & Liz T., as well as from our Stanford researchers and students!
We loved learning about the exciting studies happening across levels with Synapse students, including the EEG Seminar Series, as well as the many impactful partnerships the BLC continues to build.
A special congratulations to our Middle School Research Assistants for presenting the original studies they created: Ariana & William, Sonia & Vir, Brooklyn, Alicia, Ryder and Dito, Collette, Emerson, and Lexi and Axel! It was also wonderful to see a few BLC alumni return to visit and celebrate with us.
The creativity, curiosity, and dedication throughout the BLC continue to inspire us all! 🧠

A standing ovation for Synapse’s very FIRST Theater Showcase this past week! 🎭✨
Our students brought their all to the stage with monologues, show tunes and more with a two-night showcase. What a special milestone for our community and the first of many theater traditions to come. Bravo to our students, Synapse Theater teachers Asher & Kathleen, and everyone involved who helped bring this production to life! 👏
Our teachers and staff truly felt the love during Teacher Appreciation Week! 💙💜
Thank you to all of the parents, especially SynC (our Synapse Parent Ambassadors) and students who went above and beyond to make every day feel so special. They volunteered their time each day and organized thoughtful surprises: we were treated to a bouquet flower-making bar, book-themed foods from around the world, mystery books gifted to teachers, and a parent-hosted mocktail bar. And a huge shoutout to Brynn in 5th Grade for leading a Reading Rainbow-themed student flash mob that brought everyone joy! 🌈
We are so grateful for this community and for all the ways you celebrated the people who help make Synapse such a special place to learn and grow.

Our Middle School Research Assistants took learning beyond the campus with a visit to the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where they got a firsthand look at educational neuroscience in action!
We are excited to share that 8th grade MSRAs also earned 1st and 2nd place at the San Mateo County Science Fair and advances to the state and national level! 🎉
You can come hear about the projects all of our BLC students have been working hard on next week!

Our Associate Director of Middle School Math Innovation, Ben Meiseles, created a Middle School Math Peer Tutor Elective this school year!
The Math Peer Tutors have been training in teaching and learning best practices since November and during Trimester Three, they’ve been joining Shelly and Malcolm’s Level 2 class every few weeks to play math games, model math skills, and provide support for math projects.
We love seeing the mentorship, confidence-building, and genuinely fun connections between our middle and lower school!
Take a look, it’s in a book... 📚
As we wrap up April, it’s only right we celebrate this month with lots and lots of books! We celebrated National Library Week, World Book Day, and Independent Bookstore Day, while also honoring our Change Maker of the Year, LeVar Burton, and his impact on reading & literacy.
Check out what some of our students (and Language Arts teacher, Lenna!) had to say about their favorite reads! What are you reading this month? Tell us below! 📖

Happy Earth Day! 🌎✨
Our L3 students are learning about vermicomposting in Garden Science! Last week, they built their own worm bins and this week, they’re exploring worm anatomy, how they live, what they need to thrive, and even how they help create rich, healthy soil.
Now they’re mixing up worm food and turning kitchen scraps into valuable “black gold”!
It’s been a wonderful lesson on how nature takes care of each other, and how we can better take care of our planet! ♻️🌱
