Thank you to everyone who joined us for FCE’s Welcome Back Celebration and Potluck! It was amazing seeing so many of our families come together, reconnect, and share delicious dishes for our potluck. A special thank you to SamTrans, Youth Community Service (YCS), Children's Health Council, Foothill College, and The Links, Incorporated for supporting us with our Community Resource Fair! It was wonderful seeing our families connect with these organizations and learn more about the resources and opportunities they have to offer. We hope everyone had a fun and memorable time! We’re excited for another great year at FCE and look forward to continuing to grow and celebrate together.

FCE was honored to attend Kick Start for Kidz. Held in East Palo Alto, this community event invited students from all over to celebrate with food, games, and prizes. Students received all kinds of school supplies as they prepare for the new school year! We had a tremendous time connecting with the East Palo Alto community and sharing more about FCE and the work we do. Thank you, Kalapu Halafo'ou for the invitation, we are grateful to celebrate our youth with you!

Earlier this summer, students from FCE's College Bound Class of 2021 got together for a mini reunion at FCE! Students reconnected, shared life updates, and won raffle prizes! We are so proud of our alums and grateful for opportunities to bring them back together. It's always a pleasure when our alums engage with FCE and their former peers! If you'd like FCE to host a reunion for your CB class, please reach out to Jose Rodriguez! We'd love to reconnect with all of you.

Thank you to Stanford Health & Medicine for hosting FCE during one of our recent CLEAR visits, where our students had an amazing opportunity to explore careers in the medical field! Students heard from a panel of medical professionals and had the chance to speak with them individually, gaining valuable insights into their careers, experiences, and areas of expertise. One important takeaway from the day was that everyone’s path to success looks different, but having a goal in mind can help guide you forward. A special thank you to Alexandria Blacker, PhD, MPH, Christine Santiago, MD, MPH, and Liana Gefter, MD, MPH for sharing their time, experiences, and expertise with our students!

FCE Community College Day at Menlo College brought our students together for a day of learning, connection, and planning for their transfer journeys! Students explored transfer requirements and resources, learned about different transfer pathways, heard directly from current and graduated community college transfer students through a student panel, and gained valuable insight into financial aid and scholarships. They ended the day by reflecting on what they learned and sharing their own transfer goals and plans for the future.

We recently took a group of our College Bound students to San Francisco State University as part of our NorCal College Tours! Students toured the campus and learned about the resources, student housing options, amenities, and unique and popular programs offered at SFSU. It was a little windy, but luckily, we had a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco! We are grateful for the opportunity to expose our students to different college campuses and give them firsthand insight into college life and the many experiences and opportunities available to them.

Our students had an incredible time at the Chase Center for a Career Day hosted by the Golden State Warriors, where students heard from Warriors professionals about leveraging LinkedIn, strengthening their résumés, and building interview skills. They also participated in a networking session, connecting with professionals across departments including accounting, marketing, event planning, information systems, and more.

The day concluded with a career panel highlighting different professional journeys and pathways. A huge thank you to Claudia Leist, Celin Castañeda, and the Golden State Warriors team for coordinating this experience and inviting our students to learn, network, and explore the many careers that keep an organization like the Warriors moving!

A huge thank you to Christine Benninger and her wonderful team at Guide Dogs for the Blind for hosting FCE again this summer and providing our FCE students and staff such a wonderful experience! Everyone loved seeing the adorable puppies and learning how they are trained to assist individuals who are visually impaired. Touring the 11-acre campus was impressive and important! Needless to say, the career panel at GDFB was a home run! The amazing staff, Flora G. Huynh, Social Media Coordinator; Jessica Drew, Master Instructor; Kate Kuzminski, Medical Director; and Keilana Murphy, Canine Welfare / Neonatal Specialist, shared their career journeys, experiences, and valuable insights with our students. Special thanks to Alima Connan for coordinating the day!

FCE students had an amazing opportunity to tour the Tesla Factory and see firsthand how Tesla electric vehicles are built from start to finish! Students watched the production line in action, learned how robotic arms help assemble vehicles, see the many careers behind manufacturing, from assemblers and technicians to manufacturing and process engineers, and got a glimpse into the future of innovation with Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot project. Experiences like these inspire our students to explore careers in STEM, advanced manufacturing, and technology!

This summer, 10 FCE students went to Boston to visit 12 colleges: Amherst College, Brandeis University, Bentley University, College of the Holy Cross, Boston College, Clark University, Northeastern University, MIT, Harvard, Wellesley, Tufts and Boston University.

Students got to learn about what these colleges have to offer, continuing to find their fit and get a taste of what going to college outside of California could potentially feel like. A big, big thank you to these colleges for opening their campuses to us and making us feel welcomed miles from home. A special shout out to Evon for doing a Q&A showing us around at Harvard!
