Huge thanks to everyone who made this possible! We couldn’t have done it without the support of our Mendota family!

What a **FLOCK-TASTIC** day! Our 2026 Walk A Thon was full of energy, smiles, movement, and so much school spirit! 💙

We kicked things off with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open our brand-new Walk A Thon path. Then, every grade level had the chance to spend a full hour moving their bodies, getting their steps in, and cheering each other on**!

And we didn’t stop there! Each grade helped us create a special thank-you banner for our incredible Walk A Thon sponsors, complete with their lap counts from today ❤️ The finished banner will hang proudly in our school hallway throughout the year as a reminder of the amazing community that helped make today possible.

A HUGE thank-you to our sponsors, families, staff, volunteers, and of course- our students for helping this event SOAR! We are so grateful for this incredible flock!

And guess what?! The fun isn’t over yet! We can’t wait to continue the celebration TONIGHT at our Fall Festival!

From the Walk A Thon to the Fall Festival, it’s a day full of reasons to spread our wings and celebrate our school community!

🐦 LET’S TAKE FLIGHT, MENDOTA! 🐦

Our Annual Mendota Walk-a-thon is coming October 1st! 🎉

Our Cougars are ready to hit the track and SOAR! Each student will spend one hour walking or running as many ¼-mile laps around the ball fields as they can—all while raising money to support the students and staff of Mendota Elementary! 💛

And we’re making it extra fun this year! 🏆 Each grade level will compete to raise the most money, and EVERY grade will earn a special prize activity!

✨ Prize activities include:
📚 Stories & S’mores — Reading in the Mendota Forest with Mrs. Keane + s’mores!
🍕 Pizza Party — An afternoon pizza snack with your grade!
🍩 Dynamic Donuts — PJs + donuts with Mr. Hayes!
🏃 Rejoice for Recess — Extra recess + a treat!
🏀 Gym Games with Mr. Holtz — Extra gym time for every class!

🐦 AND THERE’S MORE! Every student will receive a Mendota 2026–27 BIRDS-themed T-shirt on Walk-a-thon day!

We’ll flock together and celebrate all our hard work at the Mendota Fall Festival that evening! 🎉

Every dollar raised goes directly back to Mendota students and staff and helps support programming throughout the school year.
