Mendota, IL High School Class of '72

I try to keep you informed at least every once in a while about the balance of our Class of '72 bank account. Since I don't recall the last time I mentioned it and I have it right here in front of me today (while I am paying some of my bills online), I will let you know that we have $1,524.88 available in our account at Eureka Savings Bank. Our last major expenditure was a $720 donation to Mendota MASS on November 22, 2024.

2 things:

First - Thanks to the generosity of the MHS Class of '72, we were able to send a $50 donation in Doug Ostrum's name to the Polar Plunge to help Special Olympics. Thank you.

Second - First Friday will be celebrated Friday 3/6 at Parkway Restaurant beginning at 10 am.

Also, I reserved the south shelter at the Lake for Saturday August 8. MHS Class of '72 turns 72 this year! Thought it would be nice to commemorate it. Nothing fancy - just a little get-together to wish each other a happy birthday.

I currently have Gary Schmidt's band, Wooden Rockers on retainer if they are available that day. Great band. 3 guitars. 3 vocalists. Good music.

The next day, Sunday after the parade, Mark Campbell's band, Wise Guys are playing at Kim Pohl's house. Another great band you're sure to enjoy.

Something I thought of yesterday at First Friday:
This year will be the 9th year that Classmate Doug Ostrum will participate in the annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics. I am not sure how it works - and no one was available today to talk to (but I will call on Monday) - but I am pretty sure that the participants are (or can be) sponsored by others and the money then goes to the cause.
Doug assures me he will be out there getting into the ice water again whether we sponsor him or not, but I thought it would be nice if we'd get together a donation from the MHS Class of '72 to sponsor Doug? $5, $10, $20, or whatever, each. We could make a considerable donation with very little effort.
