A couple months ago, I got an email from a company called Reading is Fundamental. RIF is a nonprofit organization who has made a commitment to bring the joy of reading to as many families in as many communities as they can. They told me that they were partnering with Amazon to provide literacy kits to students in various districts in our area. They asked if we were interested in receiving 200 kits, to which I of course said YES!
Well they delivered the kits a couple weeks ago, and each kit contains a drawstring bag, 3 picture books, some stickers for the books, a bookmark, and a coloring page! Since then, I've been working to prepare them with pre-printed summer reading packets, and some extra goodies like I Love Reading bracelets.
This week, every single Kindergarten student at Clough will receive a literacy kit (Pre-K got theirs last week!). We will have enough left over to spread the love to a variety of other students in grades 1-3. So if your child comes home with one of these awesome bags, be sure to check out what's inside!
