Hi from Chalkbeat Tennessee! Wanted to share.
It would be beyond awesome if these two could some how collaborate to provide us high quality insurance at reasonable rates. Our insurance cost are astronomical.

At Levitt Shell — I am grateful to have a team that can take care of business while I take care of my family. Lounging on the Lawn was a success because leaders and staff put in the work (sweat) to covert members from payroll deduction to eDues and recruited new members. Thank you team Liz Marable, Shaundra Gatewood, Lisa Jorgensen, Eugene Lockhart, Sylvester Fulton, Noah Nordström and TEA staff for getting this done together!!! This work takes all us!!

This team right here was !!! I can’t thank and enough for sending this group in to help us reach our members and get them converted to eDues. I tell educators when they join our local association, they are joining a group of educators that are over 3M strong. If we need them, they will come. This work takes all of us! Thank you for answering our call.

Today was absolutely amazing. Our members know the importance of converting from payroll deduction to EZPay. We are working hard to make sure nobody looses their benefits, protection, or voice. Your voice matters and we are !!! UEA, I Am The Calvary!

Today was a great day for !!! When your state president comes in town to help convert members from payroll deduction to EZPay, it’s a WIN for ALL of us!!! We are !!!

We did it. Today was a great day for . We educated educators about the importance of being a member of all three associations. They saw our worth and made a great decision to join in our advocacy for better public schools. ✅✅✅

When Gov. Lee pushed a ban on payroll dues deduction through the legislature, TEA - and only TEA - immediately went to work challenging the new law and fighting for the rights of Memphis-Shelby County educators to pay their dues however they choose. TEA and its locals like UEA are the ONLY ones in this fight. Any organization claiming otherwise is blatantly lying to educators.

It’s Conversion Day!!! Let’s go !!!

If you fired everyone in C/O including the superintendent, it would not fund our teacher salary. Please stop telling us you are working on eliminating positions in order to pay teachers 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ UEA showed you where the money is located.

It’s Conversion Day and we are ready!!’ If you have not converted please click on the link and convert to EZ Pay…https://tnea.org

We stand with our brothers and sisters in Metro Nashville!!!

Please meet us at Metro Council! We need people to show up in red to advocate for increased sub-pay, longevity pay, and expanded bereavement leave!

We won’t stop, can’t stop!!! It’s Conversion Day for !!! We are determined to make sure our members are not left behind due to the attack on public education. Got back late last night and up early this morning because my grandmother told me years ago…the early bird gets the worm. ✅✅✅ https://tnea.org/

It’s conversion day!!! Let’s go ! We are converting members and recruiting new members. So far, it’s been a great morning of doing both!!✅✅✅

Activism in Practice. Dr. Israel Chavez I’m grateful I had the opportunity to sit in your session this morning with MH Board Member Latasha Anderson. It was very enlightening and motivating for me to continue this activism work. There’s a difference in an activist and an education activist. I’m an education activist and yes it’s exhausting and not meant for the faint…so personal care is important too!

Unfortunately, veteran teachers did not get a raise that they can see this year 🥲

The MSCS budget will be voted on today and leadership has advocated for equitable pay for ALL educators…not just new educators, but ALL educators.

We are protecting our members’ right to choose payroll deduction. Thank you for fighting for our rights!!!!
We will continue to convert our members to EZ Pay as we fight for our right to choose. https://edues.nea.org/eDues/righthere.jsp?TN

Wow!!! Wait…make this make sense. So, is this a conflict of interest? Memphis Shelby County Schools school board member Keith Williams’ union member sent an email endorsing the current interim superintendent. WOW!!! He is both employed by his union and a school board member. Well I guess we all know where this headed. This is so exhausting 🤦🏽‍♀️

Photos from United Education Association of Shelby County's post 05/31/2023

Yesterday’s Conversion Day was a success. When we ALL work together we ALL win. Our members know the importance of being a part of . Our voices matter and the advocacy will continue.

So many educators are leaving Memphis-Shelby County Schools - MSCS for other school districts. I always ask them why they are leaving. I am sure you can guess their answers. Just received two more emails 😢

Educators deserve a raise!!! We have been advocating for a 50K base salary. The advocacy will continue tomorrow at the school board meeting. Join at 430 pm at 160 S. Hollywood Board Auditorium. We will be in ALL black!

This is it…right here 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

We extend our sincere condolences to Dr. Joris Ray in the loss of his mother. Sending prayers to the entire family 🙏🏾 If anyone would like to send a message to Dr. Ray here’s the email [email protected].

We had a grand time celebrating teachers during our first week of “Teacher Appreciation Week.” It was a lovely surprise to have one of our MSCS school board members to stop by and show her appreciation for teachers. Thank you for your support and kind words. We know the importance of relationships. We are .

Thank you to this special group of teachers who have reached a milestone in life…retirement!!! Congratulations and thank you for your many years of teaching our children!!! appreciates you and thank you for being a member of our associations! Enjoy your next chapters! I can’t wait to see all the places you will go during your retirement ❤️🍎 💙

As we come to a close of our first week celebrating teachers, I’m reminded of how much we give of ourselves above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our students are recipients of great instruction, social and emotional support, and so much more. So, teachers we are the life support for education and schools can not exist without us. They can build a beautiful school but without us, it’s just that…a beautiful empty school. I’ll leave that right here. Enjoy your day!!! ❤️🍎💙

CONVERSION DAY!!! Friday, May 5th. As we celebrate our members and retirees tomorrow, we are also converting to EZ Pay! We will have door prizes, food, and live music. leadership along with TEA and NEA can’t wait to celebrate you and convert you to EZ Pay at Mahogany Memphis at 5 pm. We will see you there ❤️💙
