Quarter 1 Grade Recovery

The beginning of this school year has been a very trying time for all of us parents, students, teachers and staff. We at MSE would like to exhaust all avenues of students succeeding in this unprecedented time we are facing. When we opened all virtual, some students struggled to grasp the concepts of the MSE virtual platform, and, as a result, their grades suffered. We have devised a plan to help some of the students recover from a detrimental low quarter one grade. You will find the information and due dates below. The teachers have explained this plant to the students who fall within these categories.

3-week recovery (for each class failed)
Student with: Q1 average of 60-50 will only have to complete wk. 1 recovery
Q1 average of 49-40 will only have to complete wk. 1 & wk. 2 recovery
Q1 average of 40 or below will have to complete all 3 wks.
NOTE: All the assignments will be given to the students by email or google class assignments

Week 1 11.2 -11.6: 5 assignments (no more than 10 questions/assignment) worth a total 10 percentage pts. Students will have 1 wk. to complete the 5 missing assignments. Students can attend office hours for assistance with assignments; students should be issued extra credit for attending office hours (0.5-1 percentage point / office hour visit) DUE 11.6

Week 2 11.9-11.13: Study Guide (no more than 10 questions/concepts, based on the 5 assignments completed wk1, worth a total 10 percentage pts. Students will have 1 wk. to complete the study guide. Students can attend office hours for assistance with study guide; students should be issued extra credit for attending office hours (0.5-1 percentage point / office hour visit) DUE 11.13

Wk3 11.16-11.19: Recovery Exam (no more than 15 questions per subject). Students will have one week to complete the exam, worth a total 15 percentage pts. Students will have 1 wk. to complete the recovery exam. Students can attend office hours for assistance with exam; students should be issued extra credit for attending office hours (0.5-1 percentage point / office hour visit) DUE 11.19

Thank you for your continuous support as you assist your child with grade recovery.

Sincerely yours,

Alise Pruitt, High School Principal
