The dresses will be used as part of an art installation during the month of May to raise awareness of this issue in the US and to raise funds to help families as they work to locate their loved ones. Indigenous women are more likely to be victims of sexual violence than all other ethnicities in the US, and are the most underreported. Those taken from us are not just missing from their families and communities, they’re missing from the media and from the data on these crimes. Our goal with this exhibition and the programming around it is to combat that violence and erasure. For more information, contact Amanda Lee Keikialoha Savage, faculty advisor of the Student History Society, at [email protected].

Happy spring semester! We are so excited to be back on campus – and we're celebrating the small victories that happened over the winter break. While these victories are steps in the right direction, we know we have a long way to go – defending current Title IX policies and holding people like Former Baylor University student Jacob Walter Anderson accountable for their actions need to be done. We hope you will join us this spring in the fight against sexual assault! #uofmsapac #uofmemphis

Education Dept. Proposes Enhanced Protection For Students Accused Of Sexual Assault

"...victims' advocates lambasted the new rules, saying they will have a chilling effect on reporting, as survivors will not want to subject themselves to such a difficult process.

'It demonstrates Betsy DeVos and the Trump administration share the same attitude about assault that we saw from Senate Republicans during the Kavanaugh hearing — disparage and diminish survivors and discourage them from reporting,' says Jess Davidson of the group End Rape On Campus."

npr.org Among the significant changes is that schools could make it harder to prove allegations. Instead of only a "preponderance of the evidence," schools could demand "clear and convincing evidence."

"It’s a question people ask survivors of sexual violence all too often; a question wrought with victim-blaming and an implication that, maybe, the survivor could’ve prevented their assault if they had worn something less revealing, less sexy." This powerful art exhibit at the University of Kansas reminds us that sexual assault can happen to anyone, at any age. End the stigma. >> http://ow.ly/O3jX50jEHLx

A #MeToo Timeline To Show How Far We've Come — & How Far We Need To Go

The #MeToo movement has affected public discourse and had tangible repercussions in workplaces in every arena. It has resulted in palpable changes: CEOs ousted, candidates defeated, public figures disgraced. These are the most significant events that mark the radical shift in our cultural outlook regarding sexual misconduct, power dynamics, and the strength of women’s words.
