Senior Kindergarten had a wonderful visit with Mid-South Therapy Dogs to extend their learning about how dogs are trained to help people. Our Superkids Reading Program introduced students to how dogs can be of assistance to people through an interactive story. As a learning extension, Handlers Jo and Robin brought Ben (a Labrador Retriever) and Maxie (a Bernedoodle) to Woodland. Girls and boys learned about the dogs training, the places they visit, and how they help people feel better. The dogs also demonstrated several commands they are trained to follow. The children enjoyed getting to pet, hug, and love on these sweet dogs, too.
What a wonderful learning experience for SK!
6th grade STEM worked together to build a giant geodesic dome from newspaper and tape. Students used geometric and measurement skills, engineering principles, teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking skills to complete this challenge.

Last week fun-filled with ocean-themed activities for rising Senior Kindergarten students during "Sailing into SK Camp”. Some activities included creating shark headbands and jellyfish puppets, math sorting activities, touch counting, calendar skills including days of the week and months of the year, and pattern block work learning how to do puzzles and mazes. They enjoyed icebreakers to get to know each other better, worked on listening skills, and had fun snacks including making crabs from oreo cookies. It was a terrific week of fun and learning!
