Our talented 7th grade students took the stage at the Lower School Chapel this morning!
Their performance highlighted the importance of active participation in music—a core part of their learning journey. From their earliest years, our students are introduced to music and movement, and today’s performance beautifully showcased this foundation.
Throughout the year, Woodland's 7th graders have been perfecting their percussion skills, focusing on snare drum and glockenspiel techniques while enhancing their music literacy, fluency, and even learning a bit of music history.
Through both vocal and instrumental experiences, our students are developing a true love and appreciation for music. We couldn’t be more proud of their dedication and passion!

Our 3rd graders had an AMAZING time celebrating Because of Winn-Dixie with a special movie party! After reading the novel, it was such a joy to see Opal and Winn-Dixie’s story come to life on screen.
To make the experience even more magical, we enjoyed some of the special snacks from the book: Dump Punch, egg salad sandwiches, pickles, and Littmus Lozenges!
The classroom was filled with laughter, great conversations, and a deep appreciation for this heartwarming story.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this event so special! We are so proud of our young readers and their love for books.

Fifth graders in Mr. Lawrence’s social studies class recently learned about World War I. To drive home the experience of Trench Warfare, Mr. Lawrence took the students back to France and the Battle of the Somme. The class temp was set at 60 degrees, it was loud and noisy with military sounds, the students had to create their barracks, a fog machine provided the gases that soldiers would experience, and the students had to go into “No Man’s Land” to fire weapons (paper balls). This gave the students a real-world, yet safe example of being a soldier in World War I. It was an incredibly eye-opening experience for our 5th graders!

What a rockin' start to our Friday! Our 3rd graders put on an incredible performance of School Daze by Alfred Music Publishing, and it was a blast from start to finish! From singing "Walk, Don't Run" in the hallways to belting out "I Love My Locker" and "In the Gym," these kids brought their A-game.
We laughed along as they acted out the hilarious confusion of "girls" and "boys" thoughts in the cafeteria, and we all learned that even detention can be fun!
What a fun morning treat to kick off a fabulous Friday!

Our 7th and 8th grade students have been focusing in on the rich history of our country, exploring iconic landmarks like the Bible Museum, Jefferson Memorial, Ford's Theater, the Air and Space Museum, the U.S. Capitol, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court.
We are proud of how our students are immersing themselves in these incredible experiences. Can’t wait to hear all about the rest of the adventures ahead!

It’s time for fourth grade’s 2025 March Madness—picture book edition—with Mrs. Albonetti! 🏀 📚
Picture book March Madness is inspired by the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, but instead of teams, students read and vote on 16 picture books, narrowing them down in a bracket-style competition until a champion is crowned. While there isn’t a “Cinderella story” in this year’s bracket, there will definitely be lots of reading magic!

It’s Teacher Feature Friday, and we are spending it with Megan Albonetti, fourth-grade teacher and mom to two Woodland Warriors, alumni Abby ’23 and Andrew ’26!
Of her seventeen years as a teacher, Mrs. Albonetti has spent the past eight at Woodland where she and her fabulous fourth graders have been creating magic together in the classroom while learning to be successful students and caring human beings.
In her classroom, you’ll hear her sing songs, break into skits, animate history, and bring stories to life with her epic character voices.
Outside teaching, Mrs. Albonetti relishes family time, gets lost in page-turners on her Kindle, and cheers for her kids on the field, court, and stage.
Mrs. Albonetti is a proud Tennessee Vol. She has both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee and still gets excited every time she hears Rocky Top.
Thank you, Mrs. Albonetti, for creating an enchanting learning environment for your students!

This morning, Pryce Jones spoke to our Middle School students about the powerful word of “gentleness”.
What is Biblical gentleness? Scripture: John 21:15-19/ Ephesians 4:2 (Monthly Verse) Society tells us that being gentle is a sign of weakness; however, as Christians, we are to look at Jesus as our example of how to treat and respond to others.
"I have heard hundreds of sermons in my lifetime, but never one solely about Gentleness," he shared. "Gentleness doesn't get the attention it deserves."
Let’s strive to be more like Jesus and show gentleness in all that we do. Thank you Pryce for inspiring us to show more gentleness in our lives.

Our PK students are some of the biggest Mo Willems fans out there! This week, they dove into his books and brought them to life. One of their favorites was There is a Bird on Your Head!
In this hilarious story, Gerald discovers that there is something worse than a bird on your head – two birds on your head!
The kids had a blast creating their own bird’s nests and bringing the story to life. What a fun way to kick off the Spring season with lots of learning and laughter!
