This is heartbreaking news. The little girl that Mrs. Johnson is holding is 20 year old Ava May Christopher. Ava, and her older brother Jacob, were students at Olivia’s Montessori Preschool many years ago.
Our hearts go out to Jacob, Angela and Chris.

A Ray of sunshine and then some! It’s really getting to me that I still hobble and can’t walk or drive but Vincent took me to great breakfast at Sunshine Cafe and then to Cooper Young Farmer’s Market down the street. It was delightful running into my amazing former student, Ray Duch. Love that kid!! So excited about his future! College bound!

My husband, Vincent, is such a romantic. We have a good life and get to enjoy lots of lovely outings usually. Since my accident on Dec 27 we got to leave the house twice. One day was for surgery and last week was for 2 week check up. Vincent told me to be hungry for lunch because we’re going out. He scoped out a little canteen in the hospital where I could comfortably eat in my wheelchair. We had a really good gyro and he unpacked a little flower from his briefcase. For the love of Vincent.

I had my 2 week check up after heel surgery yesterday. Dr. Grear at Campbell clinic in Memphis is a god. I felt very woozy when I realized the full extent of what he did to put my heel back together. I need to stay off it for another month but I will absolutely walk again!

The deed is done. I had surgery yesterday and now I heal for 2 weeks. They got the right foot operated on 😊

I am frightened (used to be TERRIFIED) of hypodermic needles. When the nurse came in with a tray full of them, including 2 turkey basters I did grab the rail on the side on the bed as I prepared to escape but I didn’t make it. The nice anesthesiologist said not to be alarmed when I hear and feel pop as the needle penetrates muscle. Bravest me ever!!!

I remember in grade school an awful little girl used to terrify me as she chased me around the playground with a plastic needle from a toy medical kit.

When I was in 2nd grade at Madisonville Jr. High an announcement came over the intercom: The Dept of Health will be administering vaccines today. I excused myself to the bathroom, walked down the hall, got out of school and ran like hell 2 blocks away to my home. We lived in a creole cottage so hiding under the house was easy. Mrs. Brewster (school secretary) must have realized I was missing and called Mom. She found me. My punishment was that while my siblings enjoyed the St. Tammany Fair I had to go get my vaccine. The Dept of Health was located on the fairgrounds. That was the year the vaccine airgun was invented. The nurse aimed a gun at my upper arm and told me to be very still. I didn’t. I got a nice little slice.

So now I heal. I am still very concerned that someone could so cavalierly almost end my life and remain “unnamed assailant “. However I am more overtaken with the soft net of friendship that has supported me through this ordeal.

There is so much more for me to be thankful for than not!

I get surgery next Tuesday (good) Doc told me to reduce pain meds as much as possible so that I’ll get a bigger bang when painkillers are reintroduced after surgery (not so good at all).
I am surrounded with love and have felt enveloped with love and connectedness.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!
My good fortune fills the room.

And here is the view from my world photo and Campbell Clinic

I like funny. After my new splint was put on I was at home while V was at work and suddenly I heard noise on my front porch. What the hell.. PORCH PIRATES!! Had to be!! I read about those low down scum suckers daily on the Nextdoor app. They would steal a light bulb out of your yard!! So, in my current state I am totally helpless. I finally reached inside my gut and yelled with all the ferocity I could muster,” GET THE *+ #€!? OFF MY PORCH!!! I’M GETTING MY GUN NOW!!

Later that night Vincent asked me if Amazon had delivered my wheelchair leg lift.

I will be O.K. Aubergine is totaled!! There is no fixing her. That wonderful little truck had 500,000 miles on her. She’s a 1995 model and we went on many, many adventures. She was worth her weight in gold. She literally wrapped around me and saved my life.
I’m so happy to be alive!!
Some totally insane as***le stole a car and was doing about 80 mph on Stage Rd. He slammed into a car that jumped the median and hit me head on. Luckily I was right by St. Francis Hospital. So I had a little brain bleed but under control now. Left neck muscle ow, ow, big goose egg on head. Both legs bruised, Doc said the bone they broke is a hard one to break. My heel is shattered. He confirmed insane impact.
They’re crazy. Be safe! I am so, so, so, so , so happy that I came out alive and will heal. Surgery down the road. If I haven’t told you lately that you amaze me or I think you’re awesome or I appreciate you… all the above!!!
I’m home now and Wednesday I meet with surgeon. Love to you all!! I will delight in my old students and families for the rest of my life. What a lovely cocoon I live in.
