Looking back at last week’s Aspiring Teacher Support Sessions, one thing is clear: MSCS is investing in our future educators! 🍎✨

Our Aspiring Teachers Initiative is all about supporting early-career teachers on their journey toward licensure and success.

Big thanks to Interim Superintendent Dr. Roderick Richmond for showing his powerful support, to Dr. Daniel L. Jack for opening the sessions, and to presenters John T. Colenberg and Renee Dillard for their inspiring leadership.

We also extend gratitude to our outstanding EPP partners—iteach, Grand Canyon University, Freed-Hardeman University, and Christian Brothers University—for their ongoing collaboration.

Professional school counselors filled the day with “Light on the Leaves,” centering integrity, student support services, and data-informed practices that help every student shine in K–12. Special thanks to Dr. Shuanta Broadway, Dr. Rhonda Hill, Dr. Sherenda Moss, and Dr. Constance Certion, and to Southwest Tennessee Community College for hosting such a warm and productive space for growth.

Kicking off November Leadership Development Week by reflecting on last Friday’s department meeting: We set the tone with data-driven instruction and the right mindset as we head toward the semester’s end. We also practiced “The Law of Communication” to strengthen team collaboration. A special thank you to Executive Director Racheal Addison for her servant leadership inspiring our work every day. Together, we build excellence!

Excited for the launch of our new teacher mentor program at MSCS! 🌟 This initiative empowers mentors with skills in trust-building, active listening, and goal-setting to help every new educator grow and succeed. Every step forward strengthens our learning community!

What an inspiring District Learning Day across MSCS! At Ridgeway Middle, 8th grade teachers showed incredible engagement, and the Ridgeway High team led powerful sessions that sparked ideas and collaboration. What an inspiring afternoon with Memphis-Shelby County Schools’ first-year permit teachers! Today’s session was about connecting, clarifying year goals, and exploring the strong support network available for growing teaching and leadership skills. Together, we are laying the foundation for a year of achievement and impact.

The energy was electric as Dr. Daniel Jack and our PLC coaches engaged deeply with participants during September Leadership Development Week! Collaborative discussions and hands-on calibration brought rigorous instructional practices to life. Together, we’re fueling growth and supporting greatness every step of the way!

Excited to kick off September Leadership Development Week with Director Daniel L. Jack, Ed.D., who is leading PLC coaches and Instructional Facilitators in a robust journey of calibrating instructional strategies to maximize performance and support. Participants are encouraged to bring their “Rigor Wear” and most-annotated teaching resources to showcase what rigor means in our culture. Through collaborative data-driven discussions and a literacy commitment, our team is driving excellence for student success.
