When the kids found out their science teacher’s favorite band is .bighitofficial, they wanted to surprise her with a cover of Dynamite. Such a fun and upbeat song to get our mornings started!

Just call me - TheNomadicTeacher.
9 years later, I’ve made it back home! Officially back at my Alma mater, but this time as an employee. I received an incredible opportunity to teach at The University of Memphis - Campus School. I student taught at this school and have always dreamed of becoming a teacher here. Along with the move, I will also be in a new grade level. Any guesses what grade I will be teaching?
Feeling older by the second. 🤦🏼♀️

I’m all about looking at things from different angles but there’s nothing “acute” about this photo. However, I will be using it to help my students start thinking about all things angles tomorrow.
One thing I can appreciate during this era of learning is all the new technology.
Last week we played around with the app JigSpace. It allows you to explore and share interactive 3D knowledge. If you have an iPad or iPhone, download the app to see all the augmented realities you and your students can discover. It also gives you the ability to create your own which I’m going to try this week - I’ll keep y’all updated!

This week on teaching during a pandemic ... we resort to potato filters as a form of engagement.
During the last two weeks, I went from teaching traditionally to teaching from home because of a Covid exposure. One class is still at school while the other is online.
On Monday, I’ll be cleared to return to school and teach one class while the other stays virtual.
What is your current teaching situation?
Just kidding. Ask 3 before me.
Thanks to the , my class is still
making time for despite my teaching math and science this year! Aside from content reading, I am still able to read aloud to my homeroom every single day. No matter the subject area we teach, reading should be at the forefront. Currently we are reading, Percy Jackson - The Lightning Thief. To bring alive the magic in this book, we used the bookshelf to find A Magical Summer of Reading, which has an interview with the author, Rick Riordan. My students loved learning about the inspiration behind the
main character and how life events can inspire their
writing. Maybe one of them will become a writer one day!
