Day 19: “The Soul That Sinneth”

We are all “inclined to do evil” and deserve “God’s wrath and damnation.” But God has
graciously offered to rescue us, by sending his one and only Son to take on human nature
as Jesus, to live a sinless life, and “by sacrifice of himself once made” through his death and resurrection to “take away the sins of the world.” We accept this gift of God by turning from evil, repenting of sin, and placing our “true and lively faith” in Christ. It is “only” by “the Name of Jesus Christ” that a person may be saved.

This all challenges the idea of collective guilt or inheritance of sin. It signifies that each person is responsible for their own choices and the consequences. Therefore we accept the gift of God by turning from evil, repenting of sin, and placing our “true and lively faith” in Christ that we will have eternal life.

Father, I thank you for allowing me to see another day. Please work on me forgive me of all
my sins and help me to be the son or daughter that you have called me to be. Amen
