How America failed students with disabilities during the pandemic … Let’s talk about your concerns.

When schools closed last spring, parents in all kinds of households had to take over the teaching of their children. But the burden fell especially heavy on those whose children have severe disabilities and require a menu of different therapies: speech, vision, physical and occupational. Being a parent and a teacher and a therapist and a clinician and a guidance counselor it was just not sustainable for most parents.
School officials knew that students with disabilities were struggling the most. So, when they started to usher children back into the classroom, they put students with disabilities at the front of the line. But progress was slow. We want to thank all the educators who did their part during this most critical time.

Our Story

Memphis Entrepreneurship Academy (MEA) is a groundbreaking and exciting program that transforms young students into confident entrepreneurs and better students that are prepared for the future. Throughout the class, students develop business ideas, write business plans, conduct market research, pitch their plans to a panel of business owners, coding and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M ) projects. Complete with dynamic guest speakers from the local business community and exciting trips to local companies. MEA approach empowers youth to take charge of their futures in a profound way.

There are many issues with our youth and it is time we change how we get our youth back engaged in the process of being good citizens and future leaders of the communities. While we are impacting the life of a few children, we need to help our children to develop pride in their communities by learning about the rich entrepreneurship history of Memphis and Shelby County, S.T.E.M. Projects, Coding and Web Development are big part of this process. Memphis Entrepreneurship Academy's approach empowers youth to take charge of their futures by setting a standard for children's attitude and conduct; providing an environment where children can learn leadership and teamwork skills; and allowing children to develop self-confidence in a supportive environment. We impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through entrepreneurship and soft skills.

I believe teaching entrepreneurship to kids is not just a good idea, I believe it should form a part of the school curriculum. This is because it teaches children essential life skills, and the earlier they are introduced to the world of business, coding and S.T.E.M. the bigger the impact it can make on our children. I started MEA to give our children exposure to the world of business and entrepreneurship to helps children to develop their confidence across the board. To pursue an entrepreneurial endeavor, it is essential to be able to confidently ‘sell’ yourself, your product or your service. When learning about entrepreneurship, children are taught how to express themselves to people and how to get their points across well to close a deal. As a student at MEA we have six areas we focus on to start developing students.
