CAESER Community Forum is happening this Thursday, October 22, from 6-7 PM at Whitehaven Community Center!

The Memphis aquifer provides drinking water to nearly one million Mid-South residents. Join University of Memphis researchers to learn what we're discovering about our region's groundwater, ask questions, and be part of the conversation about one of our community's most important resources.

📚🌊 There's nothing better than seeing educational resources make their way from a conference session into the classroom!

Recently, an AmeriCorps member serving at Ivy Academy Chattanooga shared that she introduced CAESER's Estuary Survivor game to her students after attending our session at the Tennessee Environmental Education Association (TEEA) Annual Conference. 🌎 Tomorrow is the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut!

Earlier, we shared how CAESER researchers are studying faults and their potential influence on groundwater movement within the Memphis aquifer system. Now we're highlighting another important aspect of those same geologic features.

Our colleagues at the University of Memphis's Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI) are hosting a Great ShakeOut outreach event focused on earthquake preparedness and resilience. As researchers continue to learn more about the geologic systems beneath the Mid-South, events like ShakeOut remind us that understanding what's happening beneath our feet can help protect our communities.

📰 New CAESER research featured in the news!

Did you know that geologic faults beneath the Mid-South may influence how groundwater moves through the Memphis aquifer system?

CAESER researchers are working to better understand these underground connections and what they mean for protecting one of our region's most valuable natural resources. By exploring the relationship between geology and groundwater at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, we're helping uncover new insights into the systems that provide drinking water for communities across the Mid-South.

From Tennessee to Italy! ✈️

CAESER graduate student Kapil Karki recently presented his research with a poster presentation at the 9th International Airborne Electromagnetics Workshop in Favignana, Italy, connecting with leading scientists and researchers from around the world.

Opportunities like these allow graduate students to share their work, exchange ideas, and contribute to advances in geophysical research. We're proud to see Kapil representing CAESER on an international stage and helping improve our understanding of the world beneath our feet.
