Post college, he was able to pursue both passions for education and ministry. Consequently, his convictions brought his talents to Memphis. Now, he serves as the Community Pastor at Golden Gate Cathedral Memphis and the Chief Financial Officer at STAR Academy Charter School.

The mission of STAR Academy is to be an educational incubator that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and cultural competency in a compassionate and innovative environment.STAR Academy is the first elementary charter school in the Raleigh/Frayser area of Memphis.
We opened in 2004, serving kindergarten through second grade students, who were assigned to schools deemed “high priority,” due to failure to make adequate yearly progress. Each year, STAR expanded to consecutively include third through fifth grades. In 2007, the school received the Title I Distinguished School Award for closing the achievement gap; and in 2013, achieved Level-5 in Mathematics and Level-4 in Reading.
STAR is accredited by Advanced Ed and was named a reward school by the State of Tennessee for being ranked top-5% for proficiency and growth. Among all kindergarten through eighth grade charter schools in Memphis, TN, STAR ranks number one for ELA achievement and number three for Math achievement on the 2017 TCAP/TNReady Assessment.
