Music Award Descriptions:

Louise Mercer Award - This honor is given to graduating Seniors who have made significant contributions to the Rhodes College Department of Music throughout their time as a student.

Ruth Moore Cobb Award - Given to a graduating Senior who has excelled throughout their time at Rhodes in instrumental music.

Louis Nicholas Award - Given to a graduating Senior who has excelled throughout their time at Rhodes in vocal music.

Jane Soderstrom Award - This award is given to the graduating Senior Music Major with the highest GPA in the department.

Ruth Sherman Hyde Award - The Hyde Awards were established in 1988-89 and are intended to allow the student recipient to pursue an activity related to the discipline in which the award is given, namely, music.

Happy Symposium Day! Link up with the Rhodes Mighty 100 Pep Band today at 12 pm over in The Rat as we wrap up the school year in style with some lunch time jams and we recognize our first class of graduating seniors since 2013, you don’t want to miss it!

Tonight at 7:30 pm in McNeill Hall, our instrumental ensembles will be wrapping up the semester in concert with the Rhodes College Spring Instrumental Showcase. This concert will also feature solos by the 2024 Gladys Cauthen Soloist Competition winner, Catherine Prabish (flute) and by runner-up, Grady Bryant (clarinet).

All are welcome to attend!

Rhodes College Mighty 100 Pep Band are looking for a few talented and spirited friends to join our musical ‘chain’ (Def.: “Chain-“ The term used to describe a group of lynx.) Those who are interested in learning what this group is all about, are invited to come to our open house rehearsal on Tuesday, April 29 at 5:30 pm in Hassell Hall 100.

All faculty, staff, and students who will be attending Rhodes in the Fall of 2025 are welcome to attend and come play along!
