The following is the opening monologue for episode 300....
StartupNation, one of the greatest innovators of our generation, maybe of all time, is the late Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios. Back in 2005, he gave a fantastic commencement speech. Here is part of this speech I want to share with you
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
Everything else is secondary! That's the part that keeps ringing in my ear and is the inspiration for this episode. Everything else is secondary. StartupNation I don't need to tell you that the past fifteen months is a period none of us will ever forget. Many of you have been going through a tough time, and I know many of you have even lost loved ones—my condolences. However, one thing I think that the past fifteen months have taught us is that not only is life only precious, but it's also limited. We have been reminded that you must maximize the time you have here now because we genuinely do not know when our time is up. Being bold, attacking fear, and living your dream is not over once you create the LLC or quit your job. It's a continuous practice that you must make sure you maximize. Maximize the time that you have, maximize the opportunities you have, maximize the people that can help, and more importantly, maximize your ability while you are here. Tony Stark says that part of the journey is the end. Well, when we come to that end, let's make sure we end it with an exclamation point instead of a question mark or ellipses.
My name is Lawson, and for the 300th time, This is The Startup Life. Let's Begin!
