Dr. Audeliz Matías, geoscientist and Interim Dean of School for Graduate Studies at SUNY Empire State, explains the value of bringing the sciences and humanities together in community-based research to better understand and take action in the era of climate change and climate disasters, such as Hurricane María. Her research, which was conducted in Spanish and in English, uplifts the voices, knowledge, and insights of the people of Puerto Rico who experienced the 2017 Category 5 hurricane and its aftermath.

Did you know? Dr. Fowler was the Executive Director of The Crop Trust from 2005 to 2012. Rhodes is in its 11th year of partnering with The Crop Trust. This partnership includes the 12-month Steve and Riea Lainoff Crop Trust Fellowship in Honor of Cary Fowler ’71 in Bonn, Germany, to a graduating senior. It also includes a summer, 8-week internship. We are thankful to Dr. Fowler, the Lainoff Family, and our partners at The Crop Trust for providing such amazing connections and experiences for Rhodes students!
