Geade Baker, a former Success Coach, is now a Chemistry teacher at Whitehaven High School - SCS. Ms. Baker attributes Peer Power for giving her experience in the classroom and preparing her for the work she does daily as a teacher. Peer Power is not only training college students to be tutors and mentors. We are equipping them with the necessary tools to walk into a career of teaching. #teacherpipeline

This week we reintroduced you to some amazing individuals that have been promoted within Peer Power! These individuals have been dedicated not only to their own growth and development, but the growth and development of our youth.

Meet our final promotion highlight for this week,Jaylen Clark! Jaylen started with Peer Power nearly 6 years ago as a Success Coach. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to an Assistant Program Director. Jaylen has also worked diligently with our Learning & Development team, ACT Prep University and in several other capacities throughout the organization.

She is a humble servant who takes delight in lifting others. Her humor is infectious. Her talent is undeniable. Her dedication and commitment are unquestionable. Jaylen Clark is solid!

We’re still celebrating the amazing individuals that have been promoted within Peer Power! Up next we have Marlon Ross!

Marlon started working as a Success Coach with us at East High School in 2009 while in college at University of Memphis (c/o 2011). He rejoins our team after being an educator for nearly 8 years & working over a decade in Hospitality Management.

Marlon is a passionate and nurturing role model for our youth. He is husband to Leslie and father to Marlie June.

We are excited to welcome back Marlon Ross as our Program Director at Melrose High School! Congratulations Marlon! 🥳

Join us in celebrating our third promotion spotlight for this week.

Dr. Sara LeeAnn Benson has played a significant role in the success of Peer Power since 2015. Despite the roadblocks of the pandemic, Dr. Sara remained committed to inspiring and empowering youth to take control of their academic success.

She holds a bachelor's degree from THE Jackson State University, and a Master’s and Ph.D, both in Educational Psychology, from University of Memphis.

Dr. Sara has served many areas of the organization. She has worked as a Success Coach, Assistant Program Director, Program Director, and has also worked with ACT Prep University and the Learning + Development team.

Dr. Sara will now serve as our Learning Lead for programs that involve hiring high school students to tutor and mentor students in lower grades. Congratulations 🥳

Breanne Hagar has been with Peer Power for two years and she has been a trooper. She has "embraced the unexpected" and helped further our mission despite the pandemic.

Breanne holds two bachelor's degrees from University of South Florida and a Master’s in Fine Arts with a concentration in creative writing from University of Memphis. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis where she has taught Literature, Creative Writing, and Composition courses.

Within Peer Power she leads our Saturday School initiative at Freedom Preparatory Academy, assists with ACT Prep university and training, and has literally touched every facet of our organization.

Breanne is being promoted to Program Director for Kingsbury High School and will lead while "embracing the unexpected." We look forward to her continued work in uncovering the greatness within the students that we serve.
