The Les Passees Kids On The Block are a special group of puppets that are designed to be child-sized characters. Using the art of puppetry, our mission is to educate children about social concerns and differences, giving them the skills to stay safe and healthy. The puppet characters have definite likes and dislikes, hopes and fears, talents and limitations. The puppets work as a powerful interact

ive art form to present students with researched programs designed to help them tackle difficult issues. The Les Passees Kids On The Block performances make it easy to learn about differences, mental and physical health issues, conflict resolution and peer pressure. The puppets present candid honest dialogue designed to replace misconceptions with facts, aware ness, sensitivity and understanding. To get the message across, Bunraku, the ancient form of Japanese puppetry is used. This type of puppetry uses visable puppeteers who are dressed in black to bring the puppets to life. The skilled puppeteers become shadows as the audience connects with the puppets. The secret to the success for the Les Passees Kids On The Block is its ability to establish kid-to-kid relationships. Kids feel comfortable with sharing their feelings and fears with the puppet-peers. The program concludes with a question and answer session. Students ask questions like “What is it like to be blind? How can I say ‘no’ to alcohol and still be considered ‘cool’?” Our professional trained puppeteers are prepared to answer the student’s questions in a way that will give them the facts to make good life choices. Our goal is to empower children so that they will never have to face the consequences of the issues we address. Self esteem

The Kids on the block had a wonderful time with the fourth and fifth grade students at Wells Station Elementary School today who learned  about healthy eating habits, proper exercise and who to talk to when having problems. It was a great day!
