“Lord, every nation on earth with adore you.” ~Psalm 72:11
“Our world no longer hears God because it is constantly speaking, at a devastating speed and volume, in order to say nothing. Modern civilization does not know how to be quiet. It holds forth an unending monologue.... When that happens, the word of God fades away, inaccessible and inaudible.... This age detests the things that silence brings us to: encounter, wonder, and kneeling before God.... A heart in silence is a melody for the heart of God.” ~Cardinal Sarah, The Power of Silence, 1.74-81 +++ In this last days of Advent, set aside time to adore God in silence. It is easy to let the grace God has given us pass by in vain, as we see in the world today. Kneel, adore, and listen; He will welcome you. +++

Happy Feast of Christ the King! This feast day is the last Sunday of the Church’s liturgical year. Remember to take time in the midst of finals to honor Christ and reflect on His love for you. Does the way you live your life honor the talents, relationships, and responsibilities He has trusted to you? All of us can improve in the service of our King in some way! Do not be intimidated and start small: go back to attending Mass regularly, go to Confession, pray the Rosary frequently, read the Bible for 15 minutes daily, and allow His grace to move through you in helping the poor, the lonely, and the neglected. Take risks to love others, for this is how Christ loves us. Remember that “whatever you do for those in need, you do for Jesus, and whatever you do not do for those in need, you do fail to do for Jesus” (Matthew 25:31-46). Only those who serve Christ will “inherit the Kingdom” prepared for all people by God; those who reject the opportunity to do so will “depart into eternal fire.” Make Christ the King of your life!
All other things, in comparison to Christ, are irrelevant. He will provide everything you need, if you buy trust Him. Face the tasks before you as best as you can, but do not let them worry you: “Seek first the kingdom [of God] and His righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides” (Matthew 6:33). God bless you! +++ St. John Baptiste de La Salle, pray for us! Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever! +++

Today is the Feast Day of the Holy Archangels: Sts. Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. These three angels are found throughout the Holy Bible, especially the Book of Tobit (Raphael), the Gospels (Gabriel), and the Apocalypse/Revelation (Michael). Each name is centered upon “El,” an ancient name for God. Thus, each angel can be understood to be an agent of a particular aspect of God’s will! Michael means, “Who is like unto God?” This pertains to his role as the angel who leads God’s armies into battle directly with Satan, the chief of the fallen angels who envied God, seeking to become like Him. Remember, Satan is not the evil twin of Jesus; rather, he is more like a fallen brother of Michael. Gabriel means, “God is my strength.” This is the angel who announced to Mary her vocation to be the Mother of God-Incarnate, Jesus, as well as the birth of Jesus to the shepherds near Bethlehem. He also appeared to St. Zechariah and St. Joseph, all of whom needed God’s strength to play such important roles in the life of Jesus. This is especially important considering the many sorrows that pierced Mary’s heart in sharing the suffering of her Son, Jesus (Luke 2:35). Raphael means, “God has healed.” This is the angel whom God sends in the Book of Tobit to heal Tobias, protect Tobit, and battle the demon Asmodeus who has haunted Sarah (the wife to-be of Tobit). His actions shows the healing power God provides for each of us in the complicated situations we face in our daily lives. This feast day, find solace in the truth that God has His angels guarding your every step: “For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways” (Psalm 91:11). So, as the last line of the Divine Praises reminds us, “Blessed be God in His angels and in His Saints.” +++ Holy Archangels, St. John Baptiste de La Salle, pray for us! Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever! +++

Happy Independence Day! On July 4th, 1776, representatives from the 13 Colonies ratified the Declaration of Independence, marking the birth of a new nation founded upon Christian principles and the natural law. Because of these foundations and the values our forefathers instilled into their children, our nation has tirelessly pursued life, liberty, and happiness. Despite the grave moral failures of our society, especially those most recent, this quest is still ours. While no country or age can ever be perfect under the governance of humanity, let this day remind us of Our Lord’s command that we “love one another as I [Jesus] have loved you” (John 15:12). Take time today to pray for our nation and for all nations, that violence, injustice, and hatred may end. Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception is the patron of the United States. May our little mother watch over us and present us all before Christ, our Savior. +++ St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us! +++

Happy Holy Trinity Sunday! Though the reality that God exists and that He created all things can be known purely through reason, the Triune nature of God cannot be deduced: it must be revealed by God Himself. The Trinity, revealed by God in the Catholic faith, is an infinite mystery. Neither on earth nor in Heaven will one ever know and understand every aspect of God; thus, in Heaven there will be the continuous discovery of the depths of God! In this time of turmoil and confusion, remember the love that God has for you and your neighbor. Take time today to rest and let Him look at you, His child. Let the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts and actions. Ask Him for the grace to have faith in Him. +++ “Jesus answered him, ‘If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.’” -John 14:23-24 +++ Holy Mary, Mother of God, our Little Mother, pray for us! St. Joseph, St. John Baptiste de LaSalle, pray for us! +++
