During his recent spring leave, Philosophy Professor Dr. Daniel Smith traveled to Mexico City to present his research at the North American Schelling Society. While there, he had the chance to see the Teotihuacan Pyramids with former student Bernardo.
Fun fact: Bernardo's grandfather was the archaeologist who first discovered the pyramids!

Dr. Santosh Kumar, of the University of Memphis Department of Computer Science, was featured in the UofM Newsroom for his work on CuesHub, a stress-detection app. The app, which launched last fall, is the product of nearly two decades of research and $50 million in federal funding.

The University of Memphis has hosted Tennesseeโs Governorโs School for International Studies (GSIS) for 40 years, including this yearโs June 6-27 session thanks to a $245,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Education.
This specific program focuses on international and global studies with a curriculum that spans political, economic, cultural and social systems of the world and provides students with a rigorous introduction into the interdisciplinary field of international studies.
The world is more connected now than before with the internet and social media available worldwide. An emphasis on international competency is becoming important in every field.
The Universityโs consistent role as GSIS host positions the UofM as an institution that understands the value of global awareness and acknowledges the various international perspectives that are ever evolving and changing.

Did you know that July 16th is Artificial Intelligence Appreciation Day? To celebrate, we're highlighting some incredible Tiger success from our Computer Science Department:
How can artificial intelligence help us manage stress and make better decisions? ๐ค๐ง Dr. Santosh Kumar is showing us the way!
Dr. Kumar recently took home third place in a statewide AI pitch competition for his app, CuesHub.
The competition was part of the Tennessee AI Innovation Conference, which highlighted how research is driving commercialization and economic growth across the state.
CuesHub is working to help people stay calm when making decisions by enabling users to track their stress and manage their peace to improve productivity and efficiency.
In the words of Dr.Kumar, "Lots of people use AI; our Computer Science students ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐ AI. If you want to shape the future of the industry, the College of Arts and Sciences is the place to be!
