The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is moving forward with the Hospital Harm – Pressure Injury (HH-PI) measure—aimed at improving patient safety and quality of care through hospital reporting requirements.

Hospitals will be required to report new stage 2-4, deep tissue, and unstageable pressure injuries acquired during inpatient stays, with the measure expected to become mandatory in 2027.
