This makes Bob sad!
People intentionally leaving Silica packs in their case, perhaps because the "Gear Page" told them to..... I have no idea.
I spend my life repairing "Dehydrated" instruments. Why would a logical, thinking human purposely try to remove moisture from an instrument. There are extreme situations when we would de-humidify an instrument, flooding-total immersion would be one, but not daily use.
These packs come in new instruments cases to inhibit mold growth while in storage and to allow the adhesives used in attaching the linings to cure. Most companies even attach little notes that advise removing them once you receive your instrument.
Don't make Bob sad..... Ditch the Silica!
