Gestalt Community Schools

I have question for anyone associated with Power Center Academy Elementary or High School. Here is my question: Why is it impossible to receive a receipt upon request from the IT Manager on site and his assistant on site for returning computer equipment loaned to students to complete the school year. The IT Manager onsite had an attitude because I asked. He said, I said what I said and walked away. While in the parking lot. I said your system can fail, Sir. I said to him Walmart gives receipts. He got his car to drive away. A concerned parent.

Hello, I am building a small directory of charter schools. The idea is to group charter schools and simplify access to their official pages. I'm going to host the directory at this address: Would you like to be in this directory? YouthBuild is already in the directory:
Am I the only person who keeps getting the emails, text messages and calls about a family survey but have yet to receive the survey link?

Gestalt Community Schools (GCS) builds better communities through education. Gestalt Community Schools is a network of K-12 public charter schools in Memphis, TN.

Gestalt provides strong academic outcomes for students and leverages community assets to empower scholars to be college-ready, career-ready, and community-ready. We partner with scholars, families, staff, and community members to help revitalize neighborhoods. Instead of debating whether education impacts the community or vice versa, Gestalt believes that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community (a true "gestalt").

Mission: Gestalt Community Schools' mission is to build better communities through education.

Welcome Back to School 2020 - 2021

There are only five days before the start of school. Our virtual school doors will open to scholars Monday, Aug. 3. For the first month, scholars will learn via our remote learning pathway. Listen to our CEO and co-founder, Yetta Lewis, as she welcomes your family back to our Gestalt Village.

Make sure to download your Family Guide to Reentry:

Welcome back, scholars! This is "Welcome Back to School 2020 - 2021" by Addison Walker on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Gestalt Community Schools

Our team has worked tirelessly in preparation for school reentry with one goal in mind – serving our scholars while also maintaining the health and safety of our entire Village. For the first month of school, all scholars will start solely in the remote learning pathway, which includes live instruction at home via the computer. When it is safe to do so, we will open up our buildings to families who indicated they are comfortable sending their child back to the classroom.

Watch this video for a visual guide on how we plan to welcome scholars back for the 2020-21 school year. See you (virtually) soon, scholars!

Our team has been working to prepare two different pathways for school reentry – with the health of your scholar as our top priority. On August 3, all of our Power Center Academy scholars will begin the 2020-21 school year on the remote learning pathway. Subject to our community's COVID-19 status, schools should plan to transition into the hybrid learning pathway after Labor Day. Read our reentry guide for detailed information on our Village's preparation for reentry.

We’re so excited to welcome new kindergarten scholars to our Village this fall. To best prepare our scholars and families, the SCS Department of Assessment and Accountability will conduct kindergarten screening July 13-17 and July 20-24.

🧸 If your child is turning five years old between August 16 and September 30, they may be screened for early kindergarten entry.

🧸 Children turning five before August 15 do not need to be screened, and children turning five after September 30 cannot be screened and must wait until the following school year to enter kindergarten.

🧸 Parents who wish to enroll their child in kindergarten early must set up a screening appointment with the Department of Assessment and Accountability.
