In recognition of his officially taking office today as County Executive of Tipton County, we showcase 1992 Covington High School graduate Billy Daugherty.

Billy joined the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office in 1998 and retired as Chief Deputy after more than 22 years of service. He has continued to serve as a reserve deputy since that time. He served as Tipton County Schools’ Chief Financial Officer from 2021- 2026, until his recent election as Tipton County Executive.

He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Justice Services from Dyersburg State Community College, earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bethel University, completed Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, and completed the County Officials Certificate Training Program at the University of Tennessee as a Certified Public Administrator. He graduated summa cm laude three times over. He later completed his accounting core and earned his Certified County Finance Officer certification.

He credits his success to a number of mentors, including several Tipton County Schools faculty over the years. Congratulations, Chief/Mayor!

A huge thank you to our outstanding FFA students and advisors for their hard work and service at the TSBA Fall District Meeting! Your professionalism, hospitality, and dedication helped make the event a success and showcased the very best of Tipton County Schools. We are proud of the leadership, teamwork, and commitment our FFA programs demonstrate every day.

A second shout out goes to our CHS choir students who performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" - such a talented group led by Mr. St. Clair.

Thank you to all of the students and teachers for representing our district so well!

Check out 2022 TCS graduate Noah Hamblin who earned a bachelor's degree in meteorology with a minor in geospacial systems from The University of Tennessee-Martin in 2026. Noah is a meteorologist and owner of Hamblin Weather, a digital weather service focused on providing forecasts, severe weather coverage, and community focused weather information across West Tennessee. Keep up the great work, Noah!
