One thing we LOVE about experiential service trips is hearing from students afterwards! We love hearing their highs and lows and listening to them share insights about what they learned. After a recent trip with Cathy from the , students reflected that they loved 1) Being outdoors, 2) Being with a partner that was so enthusiastic about her agency’s mission, and 3) Being able to see an immediate difference BEFORE and AFTER their service project was complete.

Which of these things is most important to you when serving your community?

We LOVED hosting all of our Compass 5th Graders at our recent Service Learning Demonstration Showcase Day! These students have partnered with for the last 3 years and we loved celebrating the impact of this successful partnership once again! We are so thankful for Michelle Cowan and her leadership and for all the joy and meaningful connections this partnership brings our students!

Our fantastic 5th graders were able to come present to their peers about the impact of this work and celebrate with some fun, environmentally friendly field day games!

Thank you to our 5th & 6th grade teachers, our students, and volunteers for making this day such a success! 🤩 🍕 🌎

Our 2nd Graders from Compass Orange Mound were able to visit their older friends at Shelby Gardens Place last Friday and they had an amazing time! They have visited these friends 3 years in a row and love checking on their friends and doing activities with them!

Our community partners are the best and allow us to show our students so many different ways to use their talents and skills to support Memphis! Let’s keep getting better, Memphis!

This year our 4th Grade classes all have the opportunity to visit the Memphis Botanic Garden to get a better understanding of the water cycle! They also get to do a fun experiment with water and then…play in nature!

Check out these bracelets these students made to remind them of the phases of the water cycle. 💦
