Religion and Philosophy at Christian Brothers University

CONGRATULATIONS to our own Dr. Emily A. Holmes, who was named one of the two Distinguished Lasallian Educators for 2023! Each year, this award is given to one faculty member and one staff person who exemplify the spirit of Lasallian education. We also congratulate Dr. Jack Hargett, who was named the other Distinguished Lasallian Educator for 2023! This is a huge honor -- the highest honor bestowed at Christian Brothers University!

Yet another great event! Our own Fr. Bruce Cinquegrani will be celebrating Mass in Stritch Chapel on Tuesday, April 18, at 7:00pm, followed by a lecture on the Eucharist at 7:45pm in Stritch Dining Hall! Hope to see you there!

As part of the Diocesan Year of the National Eucharistic Revival, all are invited to Christian Brothers University to celebrate a Holy Mass. After Mass, Fr. Bruce will speak about the Eucharist.

Pope Benedict XVI, in his poignant essay, Called to Communion, reminds us that “the Eucharist…forever remains the place where the Church is generated...”

In his discussion, Fr. Bruce will explore how the celebration of the Eucharist — the Mass — accomplishes this preeminent mission through “signs perceptible to the senses” and by means of giving ourselves, i.e. pre-disposing ourselves to receive the grace of the Eucharist through these signs the Eucharist achieves its ultimate purpose — its “res tantum.” In doing so in his presentation, Fr. Bruce will highlight the four ways that Christ is present to us in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
