Congratulations to our PETE students who recently received outstanding honors!

Aairreona Bailey was selected as a Rumble Award recipient, the highest award given to residency students. She was recognized at both the President’s Honors Assembly and the College of Education End-of-Year Celebration. Only two residency students receive this prestigious award each year!

Rumble Award recipients exemplify excellence through:
• Strong knowledge of their major
• A focus on quality over quantity of learning
• Enthusiasm for their field and belief in its importance
• Commitment to teaching the individual—not just the content
• Professionalism
• Creating positive learning environments
• Meaningful community involvement

Two other outstanding PETE students were recognized at the President’s Honors Assembly.

Hanna Strickland received the Eleanor Mae Ferguson Award.

Mark Maclin received the Ralph Hatley Award.

Both of these awards are presented to a junior or senior physical education major who demonstrates strong leadership, character, scholarship, and active involvement in departmental activities.

Mark was also recognized at the College of Education End-of-Year Celebration as the October Student Teacher of the Month.

And we can’t forget the November Supervisor of the Month… Ms. Becky Bocz!

We are incredibly proud of each of you and all you are doing to represent PETE so well!

We can’t wait to see all of our PETE students walk across the stage soon and celebrate everything you’ve accomplished. 🎓

Look at these students shine at this year’s TAHPERD Convention!

Graduate Assistant Briana Fields led a lecture session, “Coaching the Next Generation: Collaborative Exchange.”

Graduate Assistant Rose Perez-Leyva teamed up with undergraduates Hanna Strickland, Aairreona Bailey, with support from Ryleigh Reeves, and Associate Professor Becky Bocz to present “Line Dancing for Everyone: Classics Meet K-Pop with Footloose and Boots on the Ground.”

Hanna Strickland was honored with the James E. Ward Future Professional Award at this year’s TAHPERD Convention! We are incredibly proud of her hard work, dedication to her studies, and her genuine passion for teaching children quality physical education.
