901 Reads Day with Literacy & Love!
What better way to celebrate 901 Reads Day than by bringing our community together for a day filled with the joy of reading!

We’re excited to welcome guest readers from our community and the YMCA as we kick off a day dedicated to literacy, learning, and love for reading. Every story shared, every page turned, and every child inspired helps build a stronger, brighter Memphis.

901 READS DAY
Our Navigators were READY to READ and REPRESENT! Students rocked their 901 gear, celebrated literacy, and earned tickets to shop at the Literacy Lighthouse Store!

Exploring Speleology!

Our 3rd-5th graders are exploring Speleology, the study of caves. We recreated sinkholes, which in real life can be caves with collapsed tops. We carefully filled tubes with sugar to represent soluble bedrock. We then filled our containers with sand to represent surrounding mantled topsoil. After the "bedrock" was covered with the "topsoil," some CLUEsters chose to add a house to their land. Soon, the rains came down! The sugar slowly dissolved, and the sand caved in. Homes tilted and holes formed in our soil.

Science is so much more fun when you can watch it happen!
