Linda Parkhurst & I did a thing today! We presented her beautiful artwork embodying leadership to the lovely leaders of BridgeUp Giddy Up at Havenview Middle STEAM School. Without these wonderful women, I would have no chance at succeeding at my own dreams. This painting is dreamlike itself & the moment Linda posted its completion I knew it embodied the elegance of our students at their Giddy Up Gala in January. Let this collaboration serve as a reminder of what equines in education is all about. There are a LOT of years of experience pictured in this photograph we posed for today, but what cannot be seen is more important— the passion we all share for our community, our hometown families, our academic families, and our worlds brought together by horses. Horses give us the power to do even more for these communities, as long as we stick together. Forever grateful for the path that Memphis & horses have provided for me— without either, I would never have known these lovely leading ladies. Ms. Wright & Dr. Parkhurst standing front and center, are the generation that have made our work possible today and for their continued enthusiasm for education we are forever grateful!
I am absolutely sure I don’t say it enough, but know that I mean it from the bottom of my heart… I LOVE my Havenview Middle STEAM School family❤️🐴🐅🐴❤️

Darla Young-Berry, I am purchasing this for Havenview Middle STEAM School, IF you have any space left on the walls to display it! I saw it this morning, posted by my wonderful long time friend, and horse-obsessed soul sister, Linda Parkhurst. It reminds me of the elegance our students displayed last night & I knew we needed to have it.
My very own middle schooler gets to hang with the incredible group from Havenview Middle STEAM School tomorrow at the BridgeUp Giddy Up gala & this mama couldn’t be prouder (even though it took a few minutes to convince him he might like a tux). I can’t even find the words to express how happy our family is to be included in the Tiger family. We are reimagining 901 together and it is incredibly fun!!! Many thanks to our amazing team & partners in this mission. It truly takes a village and there ain’t no other village that compares to OUR MEMPHIS!!!

If you are a Havenview student who loves working hard to achieve your dreams, this is the opportunity for you!
Pick up an application packet from Ms. Wright at the front desk ASAP. Applications must be returned to Ms. Wright before October 3rd to be considered for an interview with GiddyUP coaching staff.
Those students selected from the pool of applicants will begin joining practices after fall break. If any new recruits do not meet attendance standards, we will move on to the wait listed applicants. Only 14 spots are open for Year 3 of GiddyUP— so get your applications in before they’re gone.
