Yesterday was 1st Grader William House’s birthday, and his brother, George House ‘17, came to read his class. George read the book that he wrote when he was in 2nd Grade at PDS! He is now a freshman at Belmont University in Nashville. The 1st Graders loved it and are super excited about writing their own books next year in 2nd Grade! We love how our alumni inspire our boys! 📚

One of the most beloved traditions at PDS is our annual Christmas Pageant! Our boys have been in bows ushering in the Christmas season for many years. This year, we celebrated “Then & Now,” looking back over the history of the various pageants and programs, and acknowledging the through line: Jesus is the reason for the season!

We are proud of our boys for their hard work as they put on tonight’s show, and we are grateful for the many faculty and staff members who have worked tirelessly to make tonight happen. A special thank you to Mrs. Dawn Southerland for her direction!

We love seeing our boys practice Servant Leadership! 3rd Graders did chores at home to earn money, and they used their money to purchase toys and games to donate to the Forrest Spence Fund Toy Drive. These donations will be given to children who will spend their Christmas in the hospital. We are proud of these boys for taking the opportunity to think of others and give during this season!

Nine of our 6th Graders acted as delegates from the countries of Albania, Greece, Qatar, and Haiti at Model UN last Friday. The boys researched issues surrounding their assigned countries, wrote resolutions to address the selected issues, and defended their resolutions in front of peers from a variety of Memphis schools.

All of our boys represented their countries and PDS very well. Freddy Drinkard was selected as an Outstanding Delegate! Our boys are the youngest representatives at the conference and compete against 7th and 8th Graders! We are so proud of their hard work!

On the Black Friday, we know our 3rd Graders are up for any shopping challenges! 3rd Grade boys went on an experiential learning trip to Target last week. They took math skills they have been learning and put them to use! The boys planned either a Thanksgiving meal or a birthday party. Then they got to chance to buy a snack and drink and work on giving the correct amount of money to the cashier. Thank you to our parent volunteers who made this w experiential learning opportunity a success!
