Congratulations are in order for Dr. Martin McCain, professor of trombone! He has been elected to the Board of Advisors for the International Trombone Association!

His term kicks off June 14, 2026 and runs through summer 2029.

Meet the Studio Monday!

This week we are introducing 3rd year DMA student, Dylan Mashburn from Lester, AL. Outside of music and running his brass band, he likes spending time driving his blue Challenger and hanging out with his friends. When asked why he chose Memphis, Dylan said, “I chose Memphis for its music culture and location to planted connections.” After graduating, he plans to want to grow his startup, Brass Routes, continue expanding his brass band, Kicks n’ Licks, and teach at the high school and collegiate level.

Meet the Studio Monday!

This week we are introducing 3rd year DMA student, Cassidy Shiflett from Boaz, AL. He currently serves as the trombone instructor at Mississippi State University and president of the Iota Tau Alpha - Trombone Society. Outside of music, Cassidy enjoys going outdoors with his wife and dog, playing video games and watching the Cleveland Browns. After graduating, he plans to continue teaching and performing.
