A Taste of Ancient History! πŸ˜‹

Our 6th-grade Humanities PBL students brought their study of ancient civilizations to life through a hands-on cooking experience! Today’s focus question: β€œIf someone from our ancient civilization made flatbread, what ingredients would they have used to make it taste like home?”

Students explored the connections between food, geography, and culture, one delicious bite at a time!

Thank you to UMS teachers Mr. Baskett and Ms. Schlich and Melissa Petersen, University of Memphis Assistant Director of Nutrition Programming and Operations, for collaborating on this tasty learning experience!

Our Hispanic Heritage Month Committee, led by 8th graders JosΓ© and Saori, has been creating meaningful ways for students to learn and celebrate.

On Wednesday, we welcomed the University of Memphis Hispanic Student Association, led by President Grethel Maldonado. Members shared their experiences and cultural identities with our students and spent time connecting with our Hispanic students. πŸ’™
